flexing on roof?

monday we went out to do the final walk through of our 2014 jayco eagle 334rbts
my husband went up on the roof and noticed that as he walks he can feel the roof flex in spots? is this normal? can you feel a difference between when you stand on a beam vs in between or is this a sign of rot? there also appeared to be a 1" long cut in rubber roofing but can't tell how old it is or if there is damage? dealer thinks they did cut while washing for inspection . the roof is not a flat roof so water won't pool but we are now concerned. what are your experiences and advice ?should we walk away or just get it re sealed and fixed?
there doesn't appear to be any signs of water damage anywere on inside of ceiling

flexing on roof?

I'm only 160#, and I feel my roof flex when I'm walking on it. Same with my previous TT. It is made to hold weight, but not sturdy like a stick house. Rather than looking for flex, look for soft spots.

All the roofs will flex a little, regardless of make or model. If you hear "something" when you step, then be worried a little. But I've always know roofs to flex and give a bit when you're walking on them. And yes, there is a feel of better support when you happen to step on a truss.

The roofs flex. To keep the weight down, the materials are thinner the rafters are spread farther apart.

As for the slit in the membrane, I would look it over. I slit mine the first time up on the roof.

I would use it as a negotiation point and have them redo all the seam with eternabond tape

You may want to request and independent inspection of the roof prior to closing the deal.

Yes, depending on how far apart the bracing is, some sections can flex.

Make sure there is no damage where the slit is. If they really did damage it during cleaning most likely there is no real water damage. Make sure they use something permanent to fix it, like EternaBond tape. Done right it will out last the rest of the roof.

Electrical question.

Newbie here, bought a new 17 Jayco RedHawk 23xm, the salesman took me over to parts dept gave me a 50 amp pigtail to carry on board, but the manual says 30 amp service hookup.
Does this mean I can hitch up to a 50 amp service?
Thank you a safe travels everyone.

Pardon me if I am in the wrong place to ask this question, my first visit here.

You'll get more responses if you start a new thread but yes, you can plug your camper into 50 amp service. Some camping spots may only have 50 amp service, or the 30 amp plug they do have at the pedestal is hosed... your camper won't draw more than 30 amps. Plugging it into a 110 service that has more capacity than 30 amps will harm nothing, so you can use that pigtail / dogbone as you please with no problems.

We only run into issues if we plug our 30 amp camper into a smaller amp power source and expect all of our 110volt stuff to work (which of course it won't) and you will probably trip breakers and possibly damage stuff- but if you want to plug in at home to pre-pack your camper, and get the fridge going, you'll need another adapter for that, just don't run all of your stuff on it.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, you can use a 50 amp pedestal if need be. Your unit will only draw to 30 before tripping. All the power to the pedestals are distributed in a way that there is more than needed. The breaker in the trailer and at the pedestal determines how much can be drawn.

you can plug your 30 amp trailer to this 50 amp adapter and plug this into a 50 amp receptacle. You still only have 30 amp service but at least you have something to plug into.

thanks everyone for your comments it helps a lot !
if the dealer didn't cause the cut and it was from previous owner would there be evidence of damage inside the trailer? like spotting or rippling on the ceiling? how firm is the ceiling inside?when you push on it is it normally solid like a wall or flex a little? does this new style of ceiling even ripple like an old trailer?
