We had the same problem so we bought a short length of foam plumbing pipe wrap and wrapped it around the handle before folding the bar closed it has worked great.

We have foam grips on ours and it still rubs. You could always take it off if it bothers you. We prefer the grab rail.

My folding handle folds across the door or back away from the door. When I fold it away from the door position it does not hit the side of the trailer.

My wife found some clear plastic or acrylic bubbles that have tape on the back. We placed them on the door in areas where the handle rests.
We have replaced them once in the past four years and they work great. They are only about 1" round and maybe 1/4" thick. If I knew where she found them, I would let you know. I think you might be able to find them in a craft store or even Home Improvement store.

Folding grab handle rubbing during travel
I learned this lesson this week.
You always see the handles folding away from door. I thought I was a genius folding it towards the door.
Till it got hot out and basically glued the foam handle to the door.
Had to scrape off the door with a credit card Then clean.
Won't do that again with the exception if short periods when it's not 90.

What our jayco is talking about is for drawer stops. So the drawer doesn't hit the frame. Should be easily findable in hardware store by the furniture slides and whatnot.

When we got our trailer the salesman folded it toward the door. He was proud of the fact that it helps give a little more security to keep the door closed. By the time we got home it had rubbed a spot on the door and the handle. We have since folded it toward the back of the trailer and no more rubbing.

Any thoughts about trimming up a swimming noodle and cutting it down the radius and wrapping it during transport? I love swimming doodles in the camper. They are good to keep for bumpers and swimming.

Check with the manufacturer of the grab rail. They make spacers that can be installed at the mounting point to hold it away just enough to keep it from touching. On another rig, I made some myself with 1/4" plastic material.

If I fold mine away from the door it hits the arm for the awning and so it won't lay flat. I wrap a paper towel around it before I close it and that works fine.

Guess I'm lucky, when I fold mine across door it rides on the plastic on the lock so it doesn't rub door or paint.

X3 - this is the answer. Fold it the other way.
