Fresh water tank filling issue

I bought a used 2013 32TSBH travel trailer. The city water connection works fine but when I try to fill the fresh water tank I have water leaking through the enclosed underbelly. I don't get very much water into the tank before it starts leaking. It's not coming out of the low point drain or the overflow hoses. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to take down the enclosure to see where exactly the leak is?

Good chance you need to pull the underbelly to see if there is a loose hose connection. However, start from inside the TT. On my TT there is a hole in the floor near your water pump, and gravity fill location. My FW tank, fills from the top. Look to see if the hose connection is loose.

There was a small access panel (maybe someone cut it out) underneath that I pulled off. I could only see a small portion of the side of one tank. Could not see any of the hose connections. I don't think I can see any connections from under the kitchen sink near the pump but I will check again. I think I am resigned to pull back some more of the coroplast sheeting to get a real good look at the hose connections? I was really hoping not to have to do that.....

The connections are on top of the tank. If they are no visible inside the trailer (look for it) then you might have to drop the tank. But it might also be an open tank drain.

Pulled back coroplast and found wet insulation and one hose with a hole in it. Not sure if that is my only problem at this point. Evidence that there might have been mouse activity. I still can't see the top of the tank and it appears that it sits below the stove/oven. I guess my next step would be to drop the tank. Anything I should be aware of in doing that?

Fix the hose and try filling the FW again. You might have not to drop the FW tank.

Repaired the hose and filled the fresh water tanks. No other leaks detected. Tested water pump and everything appears to be working properly. Trying to let insulation to dry out before securing coroplast back in place. May need to replace small section. Plan to sanitize tanks this weekend. Thanks for the help!

The fact that someone was in there already says a lot!


You have a chronic/intermittent problem. Until someone gets in there and finds the real underlying problem, you'll be fixing it every year/month/excursion.


Take the time. Bite the bullet. Grasp the nettle firmly. Do it Right.


Take down a whole section of coroplast and get in there with good lighting. See what's right and what's weak/wrong up in there. Then fix it so it stays fixed!
