Friction sway bars

I have a 2017 Jayco white hawk 28DSBH. TV is a 2017 F-150 3.5 ecoboost Max trailer tow. Can two Left & Right friction sway bars be used and will two make a better difference then using one.

Welcome to JOF

Yes, especially with the length/weight of the 28DSBH. Most WDH manufactures recommend using two manual sway control arms with TT's longer then 25ft..

The next level up of enhanced sway control and features would be a WDH with "integrated" sway control (Equal-i-zer, Reese Strait-Line, etc.)...., utilized by many TT owners.

I have a 23MRB. I was using one sway bar at first. When I went over a few valley's and noticed the impact of the crosswind I purchased a second one. Now it seems as if there is no sway at all. For the price, purchase 2.

Don’t tow that with an f-50. You won’t be happy. I had a 2016 f150 and it could do it but wasn’t comfortable.

If your not going far then fine but you won’t be relaxed I can tell you that. Lookup my past posts for more info.

Totally agree. Here is a great WDH with sway control for 1/4 the price:

Eaz Lift ReCurve R6 Hitches with On/Off Sway Control- 1200 lb. tongue weight - Camco 48734 - Sway Controls - Camping World

For those on a budget, the Curt TruTrack (17500, 1000 lb. for $326, 17501, 1500 lbs. for $376 at etrailer.com) offer a lot of bang for the buck---both WD and anti-sway. Mechanically similar to the Equalizer---with integated sway control. I'm not fond of standard friction bars.

That tru-track looks like a "baby" version of the ProPride/Hensley concept. With the bars rigidly attached to the trailer tongue.

Anyone use of these and want to comment on ease of hooking up and if you need to disconnect to back up?

I went with a Equalizer WDH/anti-sway when we made the switch from a Class C to a TT. Dealer recommended/suggested another brand (don't remember) and while we were discussing the +/-'s of the suggested brand, he mentioned I would have to disconnect the sway bars to back up at a CG or gas stop. I said NO, did not want to deal with that in any form or fashion. So far I'm happy/pleased with the Equalizer WDH but I have NO other experience with WDH's. Towed boats for 3 decades, but no WDH on those.

I use Curt trutrack on oversized trailer/under sized TV with no sway and never have to disengage for backing up.

I have used WDH with a friction swaybar for the last three years and never unhook while backing up. I will now! There is another reason for unhooking besides bending the unit. I never bent anything but the last time i unhooked I realized the friction material fell out on the ground and was demolished to pieces. At some point I turned too sharp while backing into a site and the internal slide part came out enough to bind and gouge out the internal friction parts when I straightened out. Live and learn and enjoy the moment!
