Last year was our first year with a travel trailer. We loved it and managed 26 nights. We'd like to leave the fridge stocked and running between trips this year between 2 to 4 weeks. We don't have power where we store it. Last year we tried running it on propane but i guess it still uses too much battery and it would be dead when we came to pick it up? I'm thinking solar panel? What the best option?

Solar panel. Determine the drain of the refrig plus other systems that are on all the time such as CO2 alarm ect plus some trickle charge before you buy. Someone on here may have already done that math.

To run on propane you have to have the batteries connected and the sensors in the trailer will quickly drain them. Most refrigerators have electric ignition to light them.

Just to make sure you keep everything powered while in storage I would suggest a 135 watt panel ... make sure you have a charge controller that can handle a minimum of 15 amps... go with a bigger charge controller if you can afford it as once you see how great solar is you will want to go 100% solar... You MUST have a charge controller inline otherwise the solar panel will discharge the batteries overnight.

Awesome thanks for the help guys and i will check it out. I would love to go all solar. We tried to get power to our storage site but it was just to expensive. Once i get mine setup my BIL parks his next to mine and he'll want it too!

Once you get yours setup, you could start to sell power and make a little money back on it
