You can operate your refrigerator on electric, switch it to "auto" setting. This is for electric operation but will automatically switch to gas if power is interrupted. The check light comes on when the fridge is not getting propane supplied to it. Make sure it works properly on propane before you switch it to auto/electric.

Also, RV fridges are heat absorption refrigerators (no compressor) and they cool down VERY SLOWLY. It may take 24 hours to cool down to normal operating temperature.

Sounds good.So the propane Has to be open and on in order for the fridge to work even when it’s on electric?

Yes and it may take it several attempts at lighting before the gas gets to the fridge.

Our fridge does not require the propane to be on in order for the electrical cooling to work. I ran on electric for days, then decided to test the propane operation.

It is recommended to have your camper level to ensure it can run as best as possible.

As long as you are connected to shore power the fridge will run fine on electric and does not require the propane tanks open. However, if you lose shore power and do not have the propane tanks open and the lines pressurized it can't switch over to propane automatically and continue to stay cool. We always run with the fridge set to auto and the propane tanks open to ensure the fridge can continue running regardless of the state of the shore power.

Ok ty for replies.I guess the fridge is bad because it’s hooked to shore power and does not get cold.

My refrigerator seems to only work on gas. When plugged to electric, lights flash if on auto and gas not turned on. And when i turn on the gas it operates on the gas. It does not seem to switch to electric ever. It is a Norcold.. any ideas what i should check to get it to run on electric?
