Front landing gear

We are picking up our New Eagle tomorrow. However, I am wondering should I put a tongue jack on. As I remember the switch for the front landing gear is on the side of camper. What are everyone’s thoughts on this. How do you like the landing gear. How is it to use hooking and unhooking to the truck. It’s a 2023 312BHOK

Travel trailer with landing gear... whoda thunk! Is the landing gear part of the optional auto-leveling?

Looking on line I saw some '23 312's with tongue jack and landing gear and some with just the landing gear.

If it were me, I'd stick with whatever it was delivered with, try it out and make my decision from there.

Not loving the front landing gear so far. They are very slow. Guess good and bad.

So I did it I purchased a tongue jack. I feel it would be much easier to hook and unhook weight distribution. Plus the location of the jack is better for this. Also I would rather put all that weight in a $300 dollar tongue jack rather than landing gear

That was one of my frustrations with our Eagle 5th wheel, the landing gear was PAINFULLY slow (at least to me). It was probably the biggest factor when we kept going back and forth between the Eagle 355MBQS and the North Point 377RLBH. The Eagle came with the electric leveling system while the North Point came with the hydraulic leveling system.

Lots of threads here on the the shortcomings of the landing gear utilized on the Eagles. I don't know if things have changed with the newer units. That said, you'll love the auto-leveling system once you get used to it.

I think you made a good call adding the tongue jack. Faster to connect/disconnect if not leveling and cheaper/easier to fix if something goes wrong. No matter how you look at though, you're still gonna have to wait for the landing gear to come down if you want to auto-level.

Yeah that is my complaint it is great to go slow to level. But when you wanna hook up or disconnect weight distribution the tongue jack was way to go
