Furrion Camera?

Howdy all. New owner of a Hummingbird 17RK here. We've got a bracket on the back of the camper that seems to be a blank to install a Furrion back up camera. The dealer didn't know much about it, and there is no information in the piles of papers that came with the camper. So, here I am.

What's the deal with this thing?
Is it actually, really, truly pre-wired?
Is it worth having a back up camera?

Thanks

Amazon and eBay have good prices on the Furrion camera kits. They seem to work well, but I simply don't care for their small monitor screens, others will disagree.

This is the camera I installed on the back of my 2016 X254. I did not have backup camera prewiring so I connected it to the clearance light wiring at the back of my trailer. This allows me to have a rear view while driving to change lanes as well as backing up anytime I turn my lights on. I'm sure others will chime in to offer their two cents on backup cameras versus observation cameras and their usefulness. I personally am very happy with my camera setup that works anytime I turn the lights on my tow vehicle.Click image for larger version

I have the Furrion observation camera set up, works good, a bit pricey but cheaper than backing into something and you can monitor the bozo's behind you while rolling down the road. Camera's don't get mad when they are out in the rain making sure you don't hit something either. The size of the monitor is decent, quality of the monitor is decent, I don't see a need to have a 10-12" monitor on the dash myself.

X2 I don't have the camera but don't see the need as stated above. I'm a nice guy too. If its raining I don't back all the way in. I am not in that big of a hurry. Rain will be over in a few minutes.
