Gas regulator/switch

So I ran out of my primary tank tonite in the dark grilling. Went to turn on the second tank, when I turned the center selector valve to the second tank, it felt like something broke while turning, now the valve just spins freely and the knob will easily slide off (definitely wont travel). It does however seem to work if the arrow is pointing to the right tank.

Any advice here on what happened? It being dark I haven't had time to thoroughly inspect. Gas is off for the evening but grill ran fine with no apparent leaks. I need to run the fridge while traveling and this has added concern to doing that if its more than the knob broke.

,check for leaks at the regulator(I used a soap solution) and if there is none you are good to go. If it is spinning freely you might have stripped the splines on the regulator. Would be a good opportunity to get an automatic regulator6

Gas regulator/switch

It appears it did crack.

I had my regulator go bad on me. I went out and bought a cheap grill regulator for $10 for a backup. Now no worries of being completely dead in the water

So the plastic knob cracked? If so the regulator is probably fine. I'd still check for leaks as mentioned earlier. Maybe just the knob can be replaced? I've never looked at mine closely enough to know.
