Gas struts for bed in Swift 267BHS?

I'm sure this has been asked befure, but with a quick search, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. What size/brand/mount struts to I need for my queen bed in my 267BHS? I KNOW others have added these so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I will look tomorrow and see if I can find a name on the struts on mine. Not a Swift but likely the same front queen bed setup.

I was interested in this too for the full size bed in my 165 Sport.
It has a rod, but was thinking shocks might be a nice mod.

I looked about 6 pages deep in the Mod Threads and there was a thread replacing gas shocks.
He got his off Ebay and had a link. The Ebay store had all lengths and forces.

I had to replace mine on my previous TT. Dealer wanted $40 apiece for them. I went to AutoZone and found them for $17.95. Same exact thing but different words on the shocks. Worked great. As I recall they had all lengths, sizes and forces.

Yep, I was looking on Autozone website.
I guess just prop the bed up and put them towards the rear where ever the extension matched up to a support?

How do you know how long of shocks to get? I guess since the bed will raise up as high as you want, it doesn't really matter does it?

OK here are what info mine have on them -

"Suspa" Grand Rapids, Michigan

Do not go any smaller in force as these are barely adequate to do the job when a mattress topper is added.

If I do it, my plan is to raise the bed to the most upright position.
Then measure the length from two best mounting locations.
I'll buy a 100lb force cylinder (pair) at least that long or longer and install.
I am just not sure I'll have time between pickup of TT and leaving on 1st trip.

That looks like only a 3" stroke?
Is that all it takes to lift the bed?
Must be installed close to edge?

Would that be too much? They are the same length (both extended 19.7" and compressed 11.8") as the ones you mentioned Crabman but 120 lbs. Or would that be too much? Also Crabman, do you have one or two on your bed? We also have a 4" memory foam mattress topper as well as a thick, heavy blanket during winter camping (deer camp). So wondering if the 120 lbs would be the way to go or not. Thanks for all the replies guys!

The queenbed has two, one on each side. The rear bunkbed has only one. I think the 120`s would be better. The queen bed will not stay up after being raised and requires considerable effort with the mattress topper and heavy blankets on the bed.

There is one strut on each side mounted to the inside of the bed frame which creates the underbed storage box. The other end is mounted to the underside of the bed which is simply a piece of plywood, about 8" from the edge.

That's kind of what I envisioned, but I would have thought the cylinder lengths to be much longer.
I appreciate the information. Once I get mine home I'll have a better feel for how to mount and what mount hardware I need.
Mine is the full size bed in the read that the side lifts up on to access storage and HW valves etc.

That sounds like the rear double bunk in mine that lifts up on the side also to access rear storage. That one only has one strut but with no mattress topper it seems to do a fair job in lifting it.

Can someone that has these gas shocks under there bed take a few pictures of it for me? I'm trying to figure out where and how to mount the brackets and the shocks. If nobody can take pics, I can go to the Jayco dealer and see if I can look at another TT with the shocks.

I ordered these, and attempted to put them on today. They seam too powerful. Couldn't even close the bed. Maybe I didn't mount them in the correct position?? If someone could post a couple of pictures, that would be really helpful. I just minutes ago sent a request to return them but now reading this thread, I'm thinking I should be able to make them work. Pictures much appreciated!!!!

Man I hope yours aren't too powerful because I bought the 120 lb however, I was at camping world over the weekend and they have the shocks and a little booklet telling you how to pick the right shock and it says 150 lb shocks for a queen! hopefully someone will post pics and help us out. If not, I can go to the nearby Jayco dealer and take some pictures for us. But maybe I won't have to.

I have seen these on line at both Dyers online and RVwholesalers.com, just search for gas struts, there are several sizes available.
