My husband and I just purchased a Jayco travel trailer 28BHSW and we purchased 2 Generac 2000 generator with parallel kit and are having trouble running AC. Generators bog out and AC shuts off. Can anyone recommend a good powerful generator that is quiet and can run AC, TV and power small appliances all at once? Thank you

Either the Honda or Yamaha 3000 watt inverter generators. They are the best and quietest on the market, also the most expensive. 2nd tier would be the Champion 3000 watt inverter generator. It's a bit louder but they cost half of what the others cost

If you haven't already done so, you may want to try a hard start capacitor on the AC.

Quoting Einstein, asking the same question over and over and expecting a different answer is the definition of insanity. In the ongoing discussion of the best generator, I would suggest the OP do a search on the forum and they will find page after page of previous posters opinions. In the end it comes down to a Ford or Chevy kind of favorite. In this case its Honda vs Yahama with the occasional Champion vote. I have said before that when it comes to generators, you get what you pay for. Cheap generators are cheap for a reason. The expensive ones cost more because they do the job and like the energizer bunny, they keep on ticking.

The new Generac iq2000 is every bit as good if not better than the much sung about Honda 2000, it is also quieter. Generac have been producing generators for 56 years.
Biggest problem is everyone wants to run their TT like they are on a 200 amp home service.
Christina872, did you try running your ac with Everything else off and in particular your electric hot water off?

This info may be of help to you, I believe you are trying to power too much at once.

RVers:
The primary factor you need to consider is the size of your AC unit(s).

The EU3000 Handi and EU3000is will power most 13,500 BTU AC units
Larger AC units may need two EU2000i’s paralleled together.
The EU7000iS works well for fifth wheels and RVs with dual AC units.
The AC’s needs may vary based on many factors, including the ambient temperature and the efficiency of your model.

Campers, Tailgaters, and Boaters:
Usually 1000-2000 watts will handle most needs.
Check the power requirement of your blender, coffee pot or other appliances you want to use.

You can beat them with a stick and they still run?
You can beat them and when they scream, you can hardly hear it as it is under 53 db?
Or you can beat them by price by purchasing a Champion for 1/2 the cost?

What size a/c 15K or 13.5K? In parallel you should be pushing out close to 4Kwatts which should kick start the a/c. I would check the output you are getting from the generators when running. Make sure parallel kit is functioning properly.

Exactly. A pair of quality 2000 watt generators tethered together should have no problem supplying enough power to one 15k air conditioner unit, but if you are attempting to run the water heater (on electric), and/or the microwave at the same time, combined with the load of the converter working to power the 12 VDC systems the combined 2000W generators will likely be underpowered.

Like Harreec said, try again with the water heater set to operate on propane, and don't operate your microwave. And are you positive that the pair of Generacs are tethered together correctly, and started using the correct procedure?

Yes we shut everything off except AC and it still cut out

Your two generators in parallel will provide up to 3200 watts, does your A/C draw less than 3200 watts?

Yes I agree on the Champion I was looking at one at Cabalas they seem to be good ones also.

Make sure your refrigerator is on propane, water heater on propane and throw breaker on your converter to off. That will allow all power to go to starting your AC. There is no reason that 2 2000 watt generators properly paralleled shouldn't run your AC.

I run a Champion 3100 and love it. I was at CW yesterday and they are on sale $899 and it runs the 15k A/C. Like OP said you need to watch whats on at the same time.

That's a good point worth mentioning to anyone who is having generator load issues. It says pretty pointedly in the manual that you shouldn't add a sudden high load when running in eco mode. Turn eco mode on *after* the AC is on and then the generator will decide what to run at.

I've had great luck so far with the baby 2000W Champion. Runs like a top, cost me $450, and I haven't had any problems running things. I don't ever use the A/C however, because it just doesn't get very warm here. I *think* I could run the 13.5K A/C on my X213 with the 2000W generator provided I didn't have *any* other loads, but it would be close.
