So the Champion 2500 watt is rated for 1850 running watts and the Honda 2200I is rated for 1800 running watts but the Honda's engine has a 45% larger CC displacement. So how does that work??
There is a lot of smoke and mirrors with generator power, generator noise, derating with elevations, ability to run an AC compressor in hot weather. There is no replacement for displacement but that is assuming the carburetor is optimized!

I know many folks that that are very happy with their Champion generators.
With that said, I have 2 Honda 2000’s. Quality all the way, starts right up, very quiet compared to other generators especially in Eco mode. The Honda Companion model has a 30 amp plug and runs my A/C as long as nothing else is on. I’ve been very happy with Honda’s, my opinion is you get what you pay for in this case.
I was going to buy a Honda 2200i inverter and have converted to propane by Genconexx. All Honda’s were backordered due to Covid. So I bought the Champion 2500 duel fuel inverter, for the 3rd of the cost of a Honda.I put a soft start in my 13,500 btu AC, and the Champion runs it fine. It only weighs 39 lbs too. I am only going to run it on propane. Of course nothing runs like a Honda. I am very happy with the Champion so far. Some people have difficulty starting it on propane, but once you find the “sweet spot” of the choke, it fired up within 3-5 pulls for me.
