Generator install hitch weight?

Good evening all,

I just joined this amazing forum tonight after purchasing a new 272RBOK. I’m super curious to see if anyone has installed a genny on an Eagle TT. I cannot find anything online and how it affects the tongue weight. The Onan 5500 is 310 Lb and I upgraded to 30# LP tanks. (Planning North/South beach Texas boondocking)

In my early 20’s I hauled a huge triple axle Airstream but had a bagged 1 ton. Now I’m moving around in a 2019 F250 with a contractor starter package installed (5” BDS lift) hahaha, and a bit worried as I will be picking this TT up in 2 weeks.

Should bag my new truck or just wait and see what the distribution hitch compensates. Curb weight on the TT is 8,031. Max tongue weight capacity shows to be 1,800 for the F250 diesel.

Happy to hear some wisdom for you guys on this

Okay I’m feeling little like on an island now hahaha

Any Eagle owners out there that ponied up the $$$ to install a generator?? Am I alone in wanting a simple push button energy source?

I can't speak to your weights, but one of my generator options mounted on front is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Although I don't really take that on trips. What I opted for was putting two of these in: https://www.goalzero.com/shop/portab...r-station-app/ with 800 watts of Solar. And then this for no sun days: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Baja-900...erator%7D%3Aqu

I use the baja generator to run "super chargers" for the Solar Generators. So I have two independent 1500 Watt Electrical Sources inside the RV.

I recognize my setup would not work with a 15,000 BTU ACU unit, but it does work with my 5,000 BTU setup (all night long, with no noise). That said, the Champion I own would run everythign I have and more using propane I already have on board with a remote control to turn it on and off.

I use this for the genset mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Welcome to the Forum, I also cant speak to your weights. Congratulations on the purchase of your new Eagle TT. When Jayco unveiled the Eagle HT 264BHOK they had an Onan 5500 LP genny installed on the unit. If you have a Facebook Account you can check out Jayco's video. https://www.facebook.com/JaycoRVs/vi...0676056198947/
The Eagle HT and TT can be ordered with a Generator Prep Kit from the factory. I'm not certain if your unit was ordered with the gen prep. You can then install the Onan yourself or have the dealer install it. I also haven't been able to find much information about people who have done this. I plan on upgrading to an Eagle HT 28BHOK in the next few months and will be installing an Onan genny on it.
Best, Carl

Thanks for the info Carl. I watched the video and it’s the very first time I have seen the generator actually installed. Unfortunately mine was not ordered with that prep package and I paid through the teeth to get it hard wired with the starter/hour meter switch installed inside. Should be ready for pick up in about a week. So excited, I’m building tow hitch carrier that will carry an additional spare tire plus two extra 30# LP tanks.

Sean, happy to meet you sir. Button down everything is see the storm coming now.

We have a 272RBOK on order. Can't wait to get it!! We didn't get the Gen prep package.
Would like to see some pics of your tow hitch carrier when you get it completed. Sounds cool.
Good to hear from someone else that likes this floorplan!!

We thought the floor plan was perfect for us. I’ve got a lifted F250 and wanted something under 9,000 lbs to stay safe. The absence of an island helps the dogs move around better and how could you beat that bathroom. Like you mine is still being prepared and I should pick it up in a week or so. Congrats on the new rig sir. I’ll definitely shoot you some pictures once finished.

Ian a North Point owner and I bit the bullet and had a 5500 Cummins put in cause we boondocks a lot. I paid to have it done cause of surgery. 5th wheel came prewired. We have 3 propane tanks on trailer and carry extra. Works like a champ!
