Giddy with excitement...new 27BHS

We go on May7th for PDI and pick up. The week long wait is going to kill us. The list keeps growing on items we need to stock it up!! Very excited. 2016 27BHS with elite and thermal packages, 15k ac, upgraded aluminum rims.

Welcome and congrats!!!

If you haven't decided on which wdh to get, look into one with integrated sway control. The Reese Dual Cam, Reese SC, and the Equal-I-Zer 4 way system are all very good for the price. You may need to readjust the wdh once the tt is loaded up and ready for a trip. The dealer is only setting the wdh up for an empty tt. Verify you are getting the corrected bars for your tt once it is loaded. Don't go by the "brochure" dry weight in selecting the wd bars.

Make sure you get a good brake controller if you don't have a factory unit. The Prodigy P2 and P3 have very good reviews.

Let the mods begin to make it "your"!!!

Have fun!!

We picked our 27HBS up about a month ago. First trip to the beach went well. We did not find anything wrong or not working with the trailer. Our F150 pulled it better than I expected. This trailer is quite a bit larger than our 2002 Sportsmen, and the extra room is going to be great. Looking forward to many trips with the grandkids in tow.

Hope you like your new trailer as much as we like ours !!!

Waiting also!

We have the same unit on order. They said about 1 June on delivery. The anticipation is part of the enjoyment. Really looking forward to getting it!

We have a 46 item shopping or need to put in trailer list going right now. Biggest issue is what generator to get to run the 15btu ac.

We are thinking about downsizing to the 27BHS. We have the 32BHDS up for sale now, and hope it goes soon. Bunks are getting small for our 6'-4" 14 year old son. The 27BHS has nice BIG bunks, and I like the 80" queen it has for my 6'-5" frame, too.
I'm interested in how 1/2 ton pulls this 27BHS. I'm ready to sell the F350 and drop down to a 1/2 gasser. Kind of fed up with the harsh daily ride of a 1 ton. The 27BHS is just over 6k empty while our 32BHDS is 8k with the last heavy tongue weight before they lightened it up.

The full length queen is what sold us. I am 6'2" I used to have a 1 ton 3500 Chevy back when I had my construction company. It beat me like a piñata. I am very curious to see how my 1/2 ton does too. It pulls 9600 lbs with 3.42 gears. The trailer is 6058 empty with a 642 lb tongue I think. I will let you know how she does in 1 week. I got some steep hills to climb from where I am picking it up from. I might not be able to pull the same hills with my old chevy diesel at 65. It might be 45 now [emoji106]

I've been around the block quite a bit regarding trailers and trucks. While I eat and breathe diesels, I am ready for a smoother ride. I am leary of the tongue weight of any trailer because I've been burned before. My 1,055 listed reins in at 1,435 with the front storage barely loaded.
We tow within a few hundred miles of home, so towing close to the papered limit isn't a big issue for me. I suspect the actual tongue on the 27BHS is actually closer to 950 when loaded, but since it has rear storage under the bunks, I could transfer it behind the axles to lighten the tongue.

Are you planning on removing the outside kitchen because that takes up the rear storage compartment under the bunks.

There is rear storage under the bottom rear bunk even with the outdoor kitchen. Enough for a decent size tote to fit.

I want to get a tongue scale. But I can't see adding 300 lbs to the tongue loaded up. I guess I will find out

Congrats. Picked up the 27BHS a couple of months ago. Love it.

Couple things about it:

Our bathroom sink had a loose fitting and it leaked a little when I pressurized the lines.

The outside fridge control is in a bad spot. It's on the back of the fridge next to the compressor. You have to access the control by opening the panel to the hot water bypass. That panel is on the rear of the storage bay under the lower bunk.

Check the seal around the door. The top corners had small holes in the sealant that I had to caulk up.

If you have the bumper grill, the mount was in a bad spot and I had to move it.

Have already spent hundreds on Amazon outfitting the trailer, and I think I'm almost there on "necessities."

It only takes up a portion of the bunk SF. No access to the storage from outside, but picking up the mattress reveals more storage behind the kitchen... even if the kitchen "drawer" is pushed in.
