Every bodies preferences are different so it is hard to say for sure. In Fill The Coolers case he is happy pulling a heavy trailer with his truck and says he has no problems. He likely has less payload than you (longhorn) and is pulling a trailer that has close to 2000 lbs extra weight and 4 extra feet length.
In my case I was uncomfortable enough towing that I upgraded to a 3/4 ton. And I, arguably, had a more capable (more payload) vehicle and a lighter trailer (than the 28BHBE above) .

In my humble opinion the 26BH is about the max I would want to tow with a half ton based on my limited experience considering the 281BHS that we have was a bit too much trailer for our old truck (2013 F150, 157" wheelbase).

I would weigh your truck so you really know how much payload you have available to work with. You may be surprised at how far off it really is from the door sticker!

Did you get undercoating?
Spray in bedliner?

You have two data points above 750 and 800 lbs for tongue weight. Let's assume you have 1200lbs of payload....
If you load up your wife and kids and go and weigh your truck will you still have 800lbs of payload left over?
How close do you want to be to the limits?

Considering this is not a dealer sale you can always ask to take it for a test tow?

Good luck

Just till I get it home and I can get the right one not sure which one yet don't want to rush it or set it up in parking lot.

Good luck today. Let us know how it goes.

We have an '07 27bh for 4 years now. I bought it because I needed something to fit my TV. I have since upgraded the TV and plan on getting a bigger trailer with slides in the next year or 2. That does not mean we do not like the 27bh. We have had great fun with it. We have taken as many as 4 kids and had plenty of room. I would recommend it to anyone!
