Golf cart in truck bed while towing

Hey guys-
I'm thinking of buying a golf cart, probably a Club Car Precedent. I have a 6'4" bed and am wondering if you guys fit them in. Dealer said with tailgate down it will fit, but I'm not sure if I can tow the camper w the gate down.

If the tailgate has to be off, are there any tricks to hauling the gc ?

Assuming you are good on weight and all(total hauling weight), just strap it tight pulling to the front of the bed and tightly down and you will be fine. I wouldn't tow with tailgate down. Most tailgates hit the tongue jack anyways when down, at least mine does.

Tailgate and tongue jack argue over space when hitched.

Again concerns over total weight on the truck...

You could get a longer hitch shank and possibly end the argument between tailgate and tongue jack. Then you could tow with tailgate down. So long as your truck can carry the weight.

If I had a real reason (other than simple convenience) to get in my bed while hooked up, this is what I would do.

What are you towing, what is the weight of the Golf Cart and what are the weight #'s on the drivers door?

As far as the tailgate being down, I have the 157" frame with the 6' bed and I can not leave it open.

The snowmobile and ATV guys use an interesting flatbed that mounts on top of the bed rails to haul multiple toys, while pulling a trailer.

My tailgate clears the jack okay in a straight line and I sometimes open it for access to the bed, but I've never pulled with it down. Don't know without testing, but I'd think a turn would be disastrous.

Golf cart in truck bed while towing

I tow our camper with a golf cart in the bed. The tailgate won't close completely, but I use two plastic coated steel cables to keep it closed as far as possible. My tailgate doesn't hit the jack when open but in a tight turn I believe it would...

So no tricks but heavy duty straps, ramps and a way to keep tailgate partially closed...

I tow with my precedent in the bed of truck i take the tailgate off . I do have to watch the propane tanks at time with rear seat foot rest. After I lift the golf cart it will solve that problem
