Got a gremlin in the water system

Prepping the TT for a short trip next week. While sanitizing the H2O system, I noticed a fairly steady drip from near the rear bumper just aft of the water heater. It was happening on both sides of the bumper. However the TT was in a slight slope, which could have caused some water to run from one side to the other.

Anyway, after some messing around, it seemed this leak had something to do with the water heater. When I closed the shutoffs to the heater, and drained it, the dripping stopped. Now there is no water visible inside the TT. No leaks at any water line connections. So it seems this water is running under the floor somewhere. Access to some of the H2O heater is tight, but it seems the entire tank is inside & mounted above floor level. So if it's leaking, why no water on the floor inside?

That was yesterday. So I drain everything & begin the process of putting H2O to the TT over again. This time, bypassing the water heater & checking everything else for possible hidden leaks. Just want to be sure it was the heater. No repeat of the dripping at the bumper. So I add the water heater to the mix. And this time, no leak. Now I'm glad no leak this time. But where was it coming from yesterday?

The "IN" and "OUT" fittings screwed into my water heater started leaking after a couple years of road vibration. I had to be a contortionist to fit into the storage compartment under the lower bunk to fix the problem. Anyway, take a look at those fittings on your water heater. Could be the culprit.

I had one leak also and a new application of plumbers putty did the trick.

Appreciate the suggestions above. If it was the connections, the leak would be putting water inside on the floor. And I did check them. Not the issue. The pressure relief is to the outside. So if that was the problem, It would be running out the cover door for the heater. Again though, thanks.

Could one of your low point drain valves be leaking? Mine are at the rear of my TT.

Maybe check the bathtub drain. Mine has an access panel that opens to that area. Drain pipe might not be connected properly, or it could be leaking at the drain itself.

Just thinking out loud here.

Thanks Bill,

Not the low point valves. Those are pretty far forward. I will pull that panel for the tub tomorrow.

Thanks,
Fred
