gray plug

Hi Folks,
I went to pull open the gray water plug, and the handle pulled out of socket! Fortunately, it was in the open position, so we have the water exiting the tank!
Is this an easy fix? do we really need to fix it? it's open and we are not backing up!
Has this happened to anyone else? easy fix? Appreciate your time!

The handle on our grey water wasn't screwed on tight and we lost it some where on our very first trip. I found a replacement and put it on with blue loctite.

If the end of the rod is threaded, you can probably just push it into tthe hole and screw it back to the valve plate. Don't use loctite on the end that screws into the plastic.

Did the handle pull off the rod or the valve rod and handle pull out of the valve body. Or maybe the valve has a long connector and something pulled off. Picture would help and your make, model and year of RV.
You can replace the whole valve if you are even moderately handy, watch a couple youtubes and have simple tools. Nothing complex on doing it.

Lube the valve up after you are done so not so much resistance in future.

Yes, you should fix it. If the valve wasn’t necessary, Jayco wouldn’t have spent $5 to include it. You could have odor problems and maybe worse without it.

It’s not hard. There was a long rod between my valve and the handle. The rod unscrewed at the valve. I lowered the coraplast and screwed it back together, tightly this time.

What do you have for a tt? Does it have an enclosed underbelly?

Fox it YES, please do, no motorcycle is going to like being behind you. There is a lot of bacteria in that waste water.

From your description it sounds like the handle came off the rod. First try threading it back on. If the handle is damaged, you can buy new handles cheaply on amazon or at any rv shop.

Without a doubt, fix it. Handles are readily available, as is any other piece if it's not just the handle.

Aside from the caveats already mentioned, you also want that reserve of grey water to rinse what's in the stinky slinky after draining the black tank.
