GVRW Travel Trailer, Odd quesrion

Got an odd question that has me thinking...I have (soon to have) 2015 White Hawk 25BHS and the GVRW is 6500#.

What if the trailer is set up, leveled, stabilizers down...and I have say, 8 people sleep in the TT. Now, the weight of the TT from the factory is 5300#, leaving me 1200# before exceeding the GVRW.

I'd more than exceed it with gear and 8 people but my question is, does it matter since it is set up and all, or should that number never be exceeded, no matter if moving, set up, etc.?

I believe that number only applies when you are towing. When you are set up at a campsite the GVWR doesn't matter.

I would think it doesn't matter, but that's the kind of question you could ask to Jayco customer service to see what their engineers think about that.

I agree. I would assume that it only applies to towing, but I'd call Jayco to clarify. Otherwise it would commonly get exceeded with full tanks, family inside, food, etc...

That only applies when moving. When you are camped you have your stab jacks down and your tongue jack down. That reduces the amount of weight on the frame and axles. Also, your weight isn't dynamic because you aren't hurtling down the freeway at 60mpg when you are in there... hopefully... =)
