Hail damage repaired...what will I find next???!!!

Long story short, bought a 2013 Jayco Jay Flight 32BHDS last spring. Love the trailer for my family of 5. Over the summer had one particularly nasty hail storm (thank goodness for MaxxAir covers, though) and had approximately $12,000 in damage done (rear, entry side and top of the front). Being that it is practically still brand new, decided to have the dealership fix the damage over the winter.

Fast forward to this spring. On our way to grab some things from our trailer that is parked at a friend's acreage, the wife notices while driving up to it, that the sheet metal on the front is a different color (the 2013s have a silver grey front and rear). Now, because only the top front sheet metal had hail damage, they only replaced the top front that is a totally different shade/color of grey. Second thing...looks like a 5 year did the caulking job, third...the rain gutters are low in the middle and high on the ends, forth...the rear bathroom entrance door is scratched right down to bare metal on the very top. After more than a few trips to the dealer, as well as phone calls, the response is "we are human" and "we are doing our best".

Sorry as this is a bit of a rant but just had to share my wonderful experience so far lol.

Here is a pic of my trailer and you be the judge...

It's more of a dull grey rather than a silver. I will also be contacting Jayco direct and see what they have to say about this, too.

I could live with the 2 tone colour. Being at the top it almost looks like it was supposed to be that way but the caulking... more doesn't always mean better. Makes you wonder whats hiding under all that goop.

Ouch. For something that new, I would be a bit upset with the quality of repairs. I'd point out a new TT on the lot and have them compare it to what you got back as far as repairs. Remember those people at Jayco who built that NEW TT are human also..

You have every right to be upset about these issues. You might want to contact your insurance agency and show them the poor workmanship. They are the ones who paid for this work and possibly could get better corporation from your dealer.

The two toning thing is actually something a lot of new units have. My Jay Feather has different color front and back from what the sides are (see below). but the rest of what you posted is unacceptable, at least to me. Someone should be fired for that caulking work. I can do a better job. Yes, they are human, but they can certainly do better.

The 2 tone on the trailer I am fine with (white sides, silver front and back)...however, when the front alone is two toned, that it not cool!!!

I wouldnt accept the 2 tone difference of color,if it didnt come that way,I dont want it looking like that after a repair...A repair which is paid by an insurance company is supposed to be returning your damaged vehicle or trailer back to pre-accident condition,if its any less well then someone didnt do their job...That work would entirely be unacceptable to me,and as a bodyshop owner,I wouldnt even think about returning a job like that to a customer.......

Looks like someone ordered the wrong color and decided to see if it could be passed off. Just dont let them "fix it" with a rattle can and more caulk.

Here's the kicker. They admitted they ordered all the sheet metal from a local manufacturer and NOT from Jayco in the USA. "Too expensive" they told me. I am waiting for my insurance gal to return my call so I can see where we go from there. I do have guaranteed replacement insurance and, yes, popjim52, you are 110% correct. I, too, am a small business owner and I make it very clear to all of my customers that I am not happy until they are.

Rattle can...funny you should say that. That was the first thing they offered was to have it painted. One of 2 things are going to happen...1) they order the matching piece from Jayco or 2) which is what I am going to push for...is to re-skin the entire front end.

I imagine your insurance company will have your back on this.

Yes they for sure do. The adjuster has been notified and I imagine he will want to look at the work that has been done.

Like you said, two tones is fine but not on the front.
Pisses me off when they repair things half-assed.
Pardon the language but that's how I feel.

That is total BS that they didnt finish the job by painting the upper sheet metal to match the metal below. No one in that shop would stand for this if it were their trailer. Total crap!!

This kind of stuff just gets under my skin.
