Has anyone installed a reverse osmosis filter in their TT ?

I was at Lowe’s yesterday and I was flipping around in the discounted carts and they had a reverse osmosis 3 filter for under a sink my wife will only drink filtered or bottled water. It’s a NU aqua system 7 stage .... it was 23.00 . So I figured I’d buy it for the garage or something but getting it home it’s a pretty nice unit the sell filters for it and a new one is about 250.00 . Would be hard to install? I’m pretty handy .

Over all no, but not knowing your TT, nor which model RO unit you have it is hard to say.

Space maybe the limiting factor. Some of those RO units are fairly large to put under a kitchen cabinet.

I suspect the easiest thing to do is mount it on a piece of plywood, and slip it along a side wall of the cabinet under the sink. The hardest part will be the connections to and from the cold water faucet. In our TTs they hard plumb the pex directly to the faucet. I suspect the easiest thing to do, would be to cut the pex short and install at new fitting at a decent height. Then use some braided flex hose to and from the RO unit.

Does this one have the UV filter and a drain tube? If so that might just add a bit more complications to the install.

Post some photos of your install.

The NU Aqua 7 stage comes new with more than 3 filters. It has about 5 or 6 filters, the UV light and a relatively large water tank. This is similar to the RO system I have in my house and that system takes up most of the space in my sink cabinet. If you only got three filters you may only have part of the 7 stage system and that may be why it was in the clearance cart.

The other thing you may want to consider is the reject stream. The one we had in our house used 8 gallons for every one gallon of RO water. When we moved we switched to a Brita. We read where using RO will increase ostioporosis because there are no calcium or magnesium salts in the water.,
