HD Antenna?

Hi all,

Just got back from my first camping trip this weekend with the new trailer, an Eagle Superlight 284 BHS. One thing that was mentioned by a few fellow campers there was the need to switch to an HD antenna from the standard one supplied by Jayco. They said it's like night and day and you'll go from having like 3 or 4 stations (which I currently have) to over 40 just by switching to an HD antenna head. And they said it cost like $30 or $40. Is this right? Anyone have a link to a good HD antenna?

They are probably talking about the Wingman by Winegard antenna upgrade. It snaps on to your existing Wingman antenna and is supposed to improve the UHF reception where most of your HD channels are located.

I purchased one a few months ago and it has improved my reception a pretty good bit - not perfect, but for $25 it was worth it.

The wingman may help but those 40 dollar HD antennas are cheap import crap. A winegard antenna will work for HD.

Thanks for the link wiscampsin. I'm assuming our Jaycos' have the Winegard Sensar antennas then? This will be my first upgrade to the new trailer.

Yes, they do. I had a wingman installed at delivery. Just snaps into place.

Like Tom said, it just snaps into place. I think it took me longer to climb up and down from the roof than it did to install my Wingman.

The wingman is great but keep in mind if you park under trees or in a valley you will not get reception. Keep DVD's in the TT or use a Directv that allows more flexablity for viewing.
