Thanks for the info. Please post about the removal and installation of new one. I am curious as to how hard these would be to replace. Also let us know if reception improves. Thanks!!

Something else to look at are the connections behind the amplifier switch. I can get to mine by pulling the radio out, and found them barely screwed on. Tightened them up and get more channels, but I still think this antenna is lacking. Hopefully new shark fin will fix you up.

I too would like to see pictures! What does the shark fin look like when viewed from underneath? Jay.

Here's a shot of the bottom. Too hot this weekend here in Wis to change it out. Will also check amp connections.

Thanks for full picture. Can you please post picture of roof hole after you remove the existing antenna but before you do new install and measure hole width? I'm curious how hard it would be to just install Winegard Sensar IV. It calls for a 1 3/4" hole. Thanks!

Two questions: (1) Is this thing just held down by sealant? (2) Are the two wires for Radio and the other for antenna coax?

Thanks,

My trailer came with a Continu.us CA-1500 antenna installed. It is a fixed, amplified antenna, doesn't need to rotate, and has exceptional reception.

I'll check tonight as to what the wires go to but as far as attachment there are 5 screws plus the dicor sealant. Maybe I'll deal with the heat and crawl up top and change antenna out too. Be nice to get any reception this during this week ends trip. I'll take photos and measurements so it all makes sense.

If what I have doesn't work I'm looking into the CA-1500.

I'm really interested in the CA-1500 because you don't have to drill a hole in the ceiling for a crank or swivel handle. Does anyone know if this will fit over the existing hole that the Shark Fin has under it without the existing hole being too big or too small?

Thanks,

When I get home I will measure the diameter of the mounting base.

The round base is 6 inches in diameter. It comes in 2 pieces...mount the base to the roof, and connect the antenna to the base. I assume it gets its power through the coax cable. It serves as the antenna for my TV and radio. I easily get 1080p HD signals where available.

Thanks for the info Route 66. So are there two cables one coax and one for radio?

Truthfully I have no idea, but I would think it would be one cable connected to a splitter. I also have wiring for a second TV in the bedroom, but have never used it.

Go to the company website I included in post #27 above, search Support and contact them. While you're at it ask them for a wiring diagram.

3" hole in roof. EVERY connection from antenna to splitter to amp was loose. No wonder reception didn't exist. Old antenna got 9 channels and the new improved antenna 17. I'm happy with that in where my location is.

Thanks for the information and the measurement. That is very helpful!! That helps if I decide to replace mine with a different antenna to know how big of a hole I have to cover and work with. Was the removal pretty easy?

Only hard part was carefully getting the dicor caulk cleaned up from roof material. They are very generous when sealing the antenna.
