Should be on negative side. I used a starter cable for mine. Something similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Power-SS19-4-S.../dp/B0016GVM9A

Yes, the knob is removable.

what did you use for wire?
I've read a lot of pros and cons about which side to hook it up. Yes, mine is on the negative side because it was the most convenient. The ground wire on my trailer was plenty long enough to reach the switch. Went to the hardware store and bought a 12'' length of the same wire and corresponding connector. Crimped on the connector and hooked up the switch. The original wire had the gauge printed on it, I think it was 10ga stranded wire. The switch seems to stop all parasitic draw and I'm happy with it.

Maybe by charging almost a hundred dollars over avg. retail?

But I tend to agree that he should do the right thing. Dealers always do, right?

I might be biased. I just dealt with three car dealers last month that couldn't possibly accept my offers, they needed around 5k more. Now the same trucks are being advertised below my offering price. They aren't among the richest people in town for nothing.

I'm a Blue Sea fan myself. I have this on my battery box and also but one on my inlaws battery box as well. Heavy duty and made for marine use, so it is fine out in the rain.

It also comes in red, but I prefer black as to not stand out for kids to play with.

That's what I mounted to my battery box. Bought a group 27 box, and mounted the switch in it. Pics in my signature mods link. I placed the switch on the trailer side to help try to hide it even more.
