Help me compare....

Getting close to pulling the trigger and I'm down to 3 units, a Nash 29S (my wife prefers the Jayco floorplans, so this is unlikely, although I like it), a White Hawk 31BH and a Jay Flight 38BHDS. My wife likes the floorplan of the Jay Flight with 2 queen bedrooms better, but it seems like the White Hawk is likely built a good bit better (and also more money). Aside from the obvious advice to "pick the one you like and buy it", are there any obvious reasons why one makes more sense than the other from a value or quality perspective. I think these are a slightly apples and oranges comparison and I really think we are down to deciding whether we need a second bedroom and a larger unit or the apparent better quality of the White Hawk.

Aside from the rule of thumb of 30% off MSRP on a 2020 unit, any other rules of thumb or good bargaining positions that I should consider on either unit?

Is the Nash dealer Kelly Mobile home and RV in West Milton PA? If so, great bunch to deal with. However, they are the only Northwood Mfg. dealer in most of the north east I believe.

Yes, that's them and they seem very nice. I liked the camper and it appears to be very well put together, but my wife prefers the floorplan of the two Jayco products, so barring Kelly RV offering us some smashing deal, they're probably out of contention through no fault of their own.

Yes, Susan the owner there at Kelly is probably the #1 nicest dealer in the industry that I have met over the years hands down. We delt with her and her late father (I believe he passed but not positive) 10 years ago. Fantastic experience.

Anyway, if you don't mind me asking, what do you plan to do with your trailer? Is it going to be at a permanent site or are you going to be traveling with it? The 38BHDS has the large residential style slding glass door doesn't it?

Yeah, our goal is to use it as a semi-permanent camp in a campground, so it won't be towed or moved and yes, that Jay Flight has the sliding glass entry door.

That sliding door is really nice if you plan on putting a deck in front of your trailer. I personally really like those in a permanent site unit, but that is just personal preference.

We're looking at one sight that has a pre-existing patio, so step down. If we don't use that site, we'll build a nice deck for the unit and you're right, I like the sliding door.

In the event that anyone's watching, we ended up purchasing the Jay Flight 38BHDS. Hopefully we'll love it. My choice was the White Hawk, but my wife got what she wanted. Imagine that.....

Good choice. There are more Jayflight owners on the forum then any other line according to the polls, yet they seem to get very few complaints.

That's great. Congratulations.

I hate to agree with your wife, but given the options, that is what I would have chosen for a permanent site.

The fact that we're setting up on a semi-permanent site is the reason that I agreed with it. After looking at both units, it was patently obvious to me that the White Hawk was built better, but we won't tow the unit and won't often use it in cool or cold weather seasons, so I was OK with the choice. I did agree with my wife that the floor plan of the Jay Flight was better for us. We're going with the option of a second queen bed rather than the bunkhouse. Just works better for our family and guests, at least at this point in time.

Off topic, but are you setting it up near Coudersport or outside of the area?

We haven't been there since my wife's family left Coudersport in the late 90's.
