Help -My new little Jayco - question

We towed our trailer home last night and backed it into our driveway and plugged it in. Everything works fine. But I have a question. We notice that when you turn on any of the interior lights, there seems to be a fan/vent that also comes on. This vent/fan sound seems possibly to be coming from something on top of the trailer, but not sure. It's not loud, and it's not offensive, but we did this slowly, just to be sure. One at a time, we turned it on, and turned it off, and each time, you could hear a fan/vent come on, and go off when you turned the light off.

Is this something weird? Is this typical of Jayco? Does anyone know what this is?

That is the fan in your converter turning on to keep it cool while there is a load on it. No load (lights) no fan.
If you upgrade your lights to LED bulbs you may be able to have a couple on without the fan turning on as the load is reduced.

Hope that helps.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

The lights you're turning on and off are 12 volt DC. The converter is converting your house 120 volt AC to DC for the lights and charging your trailer's battery for lights when you do not have an AC connection.

Thanks!

Wow, thanks so much for the quick reply. I figured it was probably something it was supposed to be doing. I just have never heard that before. By the way, my new (used) Jayco is a beautiful little Swift 145rb. I love it and can't wait for Memorial weekend!

So glad to read this post my 2013 26BH (new to me) TT did the same thing. I did not know what it was and checked all I knew to check. I was not worried because when I turned the power switch off it stopped. I did not leave anything running so I did not worry about it. But it is nice to know what it is and know it is no worry! Thanks again. Still learning
