If I were doing it, I would just buy the led lights with a 9 volt or a couple of 1 1/2 volt batteries. No need to wire it up, and switch is on the light.

Here is just one example.

Battery powered lights are a good alternative solution, especially if I could get DW to turn them off! Never fails, I have to replace batteries EVERY trip because of this. so +1 to the hard wired solution.

When I do mine, I'm just going to put an entirely new fixture in (which will include its own switch) and "piggy back" the wiring from an adjacent fixture. All LED, so little risk of overloading a circuit designed only for one light...

The first question is what do you want to use for a light? I put in a LED strip light that had a proximately switch built into it. So I used that switch. I pulled back the bench covers and did a bit of investigation on every wire I could locate to determine what it was used for. Then I spiced into the best choice. And ran a wire to the light and wire tied the cable in place for a clean installation.

Here is what I used, works great. http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/7...ht-release.pdf
