Hitch for a Jayflight 24RKS

I am getting close to ordering a new 24RKS. I will be pulling trailer with a Chev.K2500 Diesel. Truck has a Class IV reciever. Will load the trailer to 75% of of its cargo carring capacitity at times. I am leaning towards the equalizer 1200lbs. hitch. Would you recommend I go with this set up or would you consider a Reese? Do you think 1200lb. is over kill? thanks

Bill

I have a 2007 25RKS and I have the equal-i-zer with the 1200 pound bars.
I am pulling it with a 2006 F150 (see signature).
I absolutely love this set up. The Equal-i-zer has been fantastic for us and our set up. I have never used or tried the Reese system or any other WD system so I can not comment on their systems.
I will tell you that we have the system you are looking at and it has been great!!

Equal-I-zer Hitch

I tow a Jayco G2 23FB and have a tongue scale that indicates 825 lbs. That weight includes 2 30 lb propane bottles and 2 6 volt golf cart batteries. I would guess your 24RKS weights no more than that. There is a problem with going to stout when looking at hitches.

Hensley Arrow hitch is the way to go.... they cost $$$$ but are the best bang for the buck you can get...

I looked at new hitch w/d systems once we stepped up to a larger and heavier TT. I like the Hensley Arrow concept but could not afford one nor could find a dealer to install one. I choose the Reese dual cam with 1200lbs bars. So far in 3000 miles I am very happy with it. Once you spend the time to adjust the set up you then will get a great tow experience.

I have an 09 24RKS and pull it with a Titan Crew Cab with the equalizer 1200lb bars. Works very well with no problems.

Is there anything wrong with using the Equalizer 1200# bars on a camper that weights 5000#'s?

I used this set-up all summer on a 2003 jayco kiwi too 27x and absolutely love it. It is super easy to hook up, but was kind of difficult setting it up at first.

Basically we install the hitch to suit the tow vehicle. The is nothing wrong with using the 1200# Equalizer on a smaller trailer (only hitch we sell anymore!). What we look at is the room for expansion. Is the TV capable of towing something heavier? Knowing the customer will probably trade in 3-4 years, they will probably move up to something bigger, so can we save them money in the long run by going to the larger system..........
