Hitch pin
Having a hard time finding a pin for the safety latch on the tongue of the trailer itself. When it's engaged (in the locked position), there's no room for a normal pin. The sides of the ball cavity are too high just to slide a normal pin in. Anyone have this issue?

Isn't that designed to wheedle-in a small padlock?

I found a small brass hitch lock at Wal-Mart that works have seen the lock at Camping world as well that is the only one that I found that would work for me and my hitchlooks just like yours. I would post a picture but not close to trailer right now.

I did manage to find a padlock that would work but I'd like to try to find a regular pin with a wire flip lock or even a pin with a hole in it for a "hairclip" pin.

Have you found a 1/4 -20 bolt that fits yet? Use that for now, then try places like Tractor Supply, Northern Tools, maybe a farm and fleet.

I put small padlock there also. I have a question another thread suggested that you should take tow bars out to back into sites. I was wondering if you do since you have similar setup?

TWP723; Looks like your chains are not cross linked?

I agree, TWP723, I've been looking for the small original safety pins for months and can't find them. I have 3 trailers, a Jayco travel trailer, a Coleman tent trailer & a Wells Cargo cargo trailer. Someone ripped off the one on the cargo trailer and the new Jayco TT didn't come with a pin (they gave me a bolt when I first picked it up - gee, thanks guys). I use the last one on all of them and remove it when in storage. If anyone finds a vendor, please let us know.

Have one like seann45. Best I could find for my lipped hitch top. It comes apart, and the tumbler screws in when in place. Years ago, I had a pop up come off the ball (not locked in place) and the crossed safety chains really work!

I have a small brass type lock made for the job as well. I like it better than just a pin of some sort because it is more tamper proof when stopped to eat, potty, etc.

+1
My small brass padlock is made by Brinks. It has been on LOTS of TTs. A tight fight on some (including my 27RLS), but it works.

A Master brand padlock works on my 27DSRL hitch (which coincidentally looks just like the OPs photo). The hardened shackle fits well in the hole in the hitch latch and the lock body clears everything as well.

I always cross my chains. My son hitched the trailer on this day. I schooled him shortly after this photo was taken. Good catch tho! I never noticed. Lol
