Nice mods, and a good looking rig. I'm sure the 1" vinyl strip will fit just fine, And I'll let you know when I put mine in. It arrived on Friday, and looks like exactly the same as what's on it now, thickness wise. It's gonna be a while, we've got a winter storm on the way, and the weather guy's calling for 5 to 10" of the white stuff, and temps are going to go in the sewer. Remind me around the end of March!! Now, I've gotta go look for my thermal underwear....

Some Indiana sunshine let me tinker briefly while my one year old took a nap. I will say that I am loving this mod already. I hated how the main light switches were tiny and tucked behind the panel. Wanted something a little more residential feeling! It’s a little crooked. Just need to open up one my corners on my cutout but little one woke up so it’s good enough for who it’s for.

I have a 2014 Jayflight 287BHBE same as a 28BHBE but with less options. I bought 20 packs of LED's from Walmart for around $20 ea and have replaced all interior incandescent bulbs. Biggest improvement is that now the cooling fan on the converter, NEVER comes on! Make sure you get the daylight or soft white bulbs, else you'll have that irritating blue/white of the cool whites. (Really hard on your eyes if you like to read books.) ........ Jim

I think all of the ones I have they were listed as "warm light" either way they look pretty close to regular bulbs. A little brighter but I love them. I really tried to make sure not to get the ones that emit a bluish tent. Like I posted earlier I think I am all in for about 100 bucks for the interior lights. Next year I might look into doing my exterior lights in led. It was amazing how hot the old bulbs got! Most of the female connecting ports for the bulbs all had a little brown/black spot from the original bulbs just getting so hot.

In reading my reply post, I read it as I miss-stated what I bought ... I purchased a single pack of 20 for around $20 at Walmart.com (Probably straight off the boat from China.) Those flat style lamps were a bit tough to get into the lamp sockets in the fixtures ... ended up using needle-nose pliers and they all seated easily. You are correct on the amount of heat the incandescent bulbs produce .... I had some fixture browning (scorching) evident on the most used ceiling lights . I have since replaced the bulbs in the fixture over the table, too. ( I don't remember the LED lamp number, but were bayonet style automotive type 1156?) I also replaced the little 2-pin halogen bulbs over the kitchen counter with LED's. These are actually brighter and should last the life of the TT instead of just a year or two as the original halogens did.

All in all, I consider the lamp replacement mod to be very cost effective and easy to perform once you figure out how to open the fixtures and replace the bulbs without damaging anything in the process. If anything, your savings are evident if you boondock ... your battery will last much longer and you don't have to live in the dark.

Good Camping ....... Jim

This isn’t an upgrade to the Jayco but an upgrade to the suburban! I got fed up with how trashed my cargo area was and wanted to build a storage box to keep things organized and to add a little security for my tools hitches etc. I still need to add my locks and I plan on building some slide out drawers to make things easier to get to but that will be phase two. Phase one is the box itself so at least it’s usable and functional as is!

So our upper bunk light was shot. Bought a 2 pack led replacement to fix it. Simple fix but nice to have all bunk lights working!

In between decent weather days I finally got my arp rv fridge defender installed with two interior fans for the fridge. I did add the inline 5 amp breaker also.

Got my progressive industries hardwired surge protector put in. Area was a little tight to work in but pretty straight forward install. I mounted my display in the bathroom like big john which is probably the easiest location and convenient area.

I installed the EMS behind the distribution panel on our old 26BH. I wonder if there is room behind the panel of the 28BHBE for an EMS. My body is hurting just thinking of how I would contort to install it by the water heater.

If you don’t mind using up an extra foot or two of your power cable you can pull the cord up through the water heater access panel in bottom bunk and have the bottom bunk area to do all of your wiring. I tried to save as much cord as possible so made for a little tighter install but not to bad.

Been a while since anything new. Hard to get much done in Indiana outside in wintertime but did finish up my back up cameras! Will have to report back how they do.

Also was able to get my ladder and stinky slinky storage done. Now using the bumper for extra 10 foot section. Need to stop spending money on projects and spend it on actual trips!

Just wrapped up our first trip. Got to go to a local state park before the parks got shut down! The Hensley arrow and 8.1 burb towed great even given 50 mph wind gusts on the way down! The camper worked perfect for the 5 of us. Really appreciated the 90 gallons of fresh water which lasted 3.5 days of conservative use. Highly recommend McCormick’s Creek State Park. The trails where great for our younger kids! Now that we have been out I have acquired a larger project list for the camper! I hope everyone is staying safe. God bless!

We had lows in 30s and noticed that although our furnace worked great the temp was too sporadic! Get nice and toasty then would cool down way too much before kicking back on! Thermostat upgrade needed ASAP!

This was a simple upgrade with wires matching perfectly.

Yeah that Coleman Mach digital is the way to go. I did that 4 years ago and found it's variance range to be +/- 1*. Glad you had a great trip to McCormicks Creek. Been there a bunch and really like it. I had reservations at Brown County from Apr 5th thru the 10th. Got to spend 1 night before I had to leave. Keep going on the mods. It gives me ideas on new stuff to do on my camper seeing that I really don't have much to do at this point, lol.

I love the storage in our camper but it’s not fully usable unless you just pile everything on top of each other with no organization! I was going to build custom shelves but my better half suggested these which are cheap, weigh hardly nothing and can be removed if needed. I put 3 in. Sorry for sideways pic. Only way to catch whole image!

Ya we were booked for turkey run next weekend but that was canceled! Hopefully people dont have to driveway camp for too much of the season. We were 1 of 8 campers so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! It was a nice getaway in the midst of everything

Finally got a fan for the lower bunk! I’m still brainstorming ideas to increase ventilation minus just ripping off paneling and running duct work to the bunks which still is on the table for the future. Tied in to the bunk lighting for my 12 volt power. Mod funds are short since just bought a 3500 watt inverter generator for when we boondock.

The duct run is still in the hopper for me too. I got the design, plan etc, I just haven’t done it. Was gonna build a drop, homemade duct run on the wall (bathroom side) and hole saw through the wall to each bunk, while installing one on the bathroom side as well. Just close off br in the evening to direct air to bunks. We’ve been living in ours since last august, but it’s inside of our shop. Not too big of a heat issue. Still needs to be addressed though. Keep up the good work. If I ever do it, I’ll for sure post it. And I keep saying that without results year after year.
