Hot ambient temps - crack a window for ventilation?

Working my way through my first summer with the 224BH.

While it is in storage (outside at a nearby rental center) should we leave a window cracked for ventilation?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

I store mine at home but I still don't leave a window open. I have a MaxAir cover over my roof vent and I do leave the roof vent open all year to allow air to circulate.

I wouldn't unless you are have covered storage as you never know when a blowing rain could occur. I would suggest to purchase a rain-proof vent cover and install one or more of them on the rooftop and then keep a couple of ceiling vents open a little. ~CA

We have a Max Air vent cover. I leave my roof vent cracked open 1/2 to 1 inch all year long.

Thank you all for the feedback.

Ours is stored outside and unfortunately (at least for the near term) covered storage is not an option.

There are no trees over it, but there are trees near it, so that for most of the day past noon it is shaded.

Finally, we do have a Max-air cover over the bathroom vent. I'll run by this morning and crack the vent open a notch or two.

Thanks again, and best to all,

Rick

I just leave the bathroom vent cracked (it has a cover). I figure if any sideways rain makes it in, its just the Lino getting wet.

We store our Class C in our yard and keep a kitchen window open, the bathroom door open and the bathroom vent open (with vent hood). My thought is the heat coming through the kitchen window will be drawn out the open bathroom vent and help moderate the temperature. And we leave it like this when its covered during winter so there's no condensation and the inside temp is the same as outside temp. Works for us, but YMMV.

Bathroom vent stays fully open (covered by MaxAir2) all summer long. Only time I would ever consider closing it is if I was going to tow down a super dusty road or something like that. During winter storage, vent is closed and I put a couple tubs of Damp Rid out inside the trailer to absorb moisture. In the summer season, with hot humid days and cooler nights, airflow is your friend.

I’d put the max air roof vent
covers over the vent and then open your vents.

Don’t do this in Florida

The humidity in Florida will rot your interior out😉

Keeping your windows open will do the same if it rains in on your RV. I suggest that covered roof vents would be best. ~CA

If this high humidity I would keep everything closed I use a couple of those big buckets of dam rid throughout my rig. I do open my roof vents occasionally depending on the weather. But I have full access to my RV when it’s stored outside, down south. When I store it inside, during the summer I keep everything shut because the buildings pretty cool here up north where I store it but I still put in the damp rid.

Same here. Max Air with cover. Vent is left open in storage. Vent is usually open all the time even when I'm using it.

I've always installed the Max Air vent covers as well and open the vents fully. The more air flow you get the better. I also leave the vents open while towing to keep the inside temp lower.

The inside temperatures of a closed-up RV trailer can get well over 100 degrees in summer drying out the glues holding trim and cabinets together, prematurely aging just about everything inside exposed to such damaging high temperatures. I replaced my original roof vent fan with a Maxx Air model that is controlled by a thermostat that automatically turns the fan on and off at the temperature you set. With a rain proof vent cover and rain proof window vent, which allows you to always keep a window partially open, you can effectively keep the inside temperature close to the ambient outside temperature. I believe you can still get a Maxx Air or Hike Crew roof vent fan with these features. Of course, you will need to have your trailer plugged into 110V in order to operate the fans this way.
