Hot water

We just purchased a 2001 Jayco Quest 256d and took it out this weekend. The only issue we had was the hot water. When we turned on the hot water it would stay hot for a very short time untill the pump kicked on. Once the pump would start it would turn cold. Is there a valve or something I am missing?

Thanks to anyone with any ideas.

Look near the back of the water heater for three valves. This is the WH bypass valves. The center one should be closed and the two going into/out of the WH should be open. Also make sure the outside shower faucet is shut off and not just with the valve on the shower head.

The valves on the back of the water heater were not correct. Thank you all for your help.
