Hot water Heater issues

2017 284BHSW. Went camping a few weeks ago and the hot water heater would not light. I checked everything and found the ignitor not firing. I also noticed it making a high pitch almost squealing sound. I touch the ignitor ceramic piece and noticed the sound changed slightly. I then very slightly move the ceramic ignitor in the metal holder and the ignitor began to fire. From that point on it worked flawlessly through the weekend. What the heck changed?

Time to swap out your igniter, exact same thing that happened to mine recently. Now I carry a spare!

Couple of questions. How difficult to swap out and where did you find an extra. Did you have to purchase from a dealer?

Thanks

If your water heater is an Atwood like mine and the igniter looks like attached picture, they are available on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Atwood-93868-...r=8-1-fkmrnull

Takes less than 5 minutes to change!

If it is the igniter shown above, it is held on by one screw and has the one push-on electrical connection under the rubber boot on the igniter module. When you replace it you just make sure it is centered above the burner tube when you replace and tighten the retaining screw.
