Hot water tank...pressure valve replaced

Well, I scratched some of the ceramic coating off the probe before I got the new valve installed. Did I just ruin it or will it work?

More info needed. Why did you replace the pressure valve?? How did you damage the new one? How much did the new valve cost? If the answer to the last question is $20 give or take, I would get a new one and be more careful. No sense doing a repair and not doing it right.
