My TT is around 7k loaded ( I don’t travel with fresh water filled) I have a 2018 EB Max tow and have zero issues towing. I just got back from a 3 week 10 state trip out west and felt 100% comfortable. The truck never went below 5th gear going up hills and I averaged 10.5 MPG for the trip. Coming down hills I felt the engine break did a great job! I use the equalizer wd.

How big are you going with 1500?

Generally if you want to be comfortable towing a travel trailer then keep to this rule:

0-5000lbs-1500
5000-10,000lbs-2500
10k+-3500

This is to tow comfortably. You can tow more no problem, but it won’t be as relaxing.

If you don’t believe me then find someone that upgraded to a 2500 from a 1500 towing 5000lbs+ and wishes they didn’t do it.

I'm definitely not one! Had a GMC 1500HD that I towed our 28BHBE with for part of a season and never felt comfortable with it at all, even with a ProPride hitch. Upgraded to a 2500HD and won't ever go back. The 1500HD handled it, the 2500HD was made for it.

I wouldn't even tow 5000# with a 1500.

My trips to east coast as far as Rhode Island, another to South Carolina, another to Nashville, and round trip thru Iowa, Minnesota, S Dakota, N Dakota, Wyo. Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Idaho(again) Utah, Part of Wyo. (again), Colorado, Nebraska, ,Iowa , Missouri and back to Central Il. have a all been no problem at all for my puny 1500 with the 5.7 engine pulling my 6500 pound TT. That's my 2˘ worth. Well , I might a used a nickels worth of improper grammer but that's my story.

26bhsw with a 2010 F-150 5.4L and 3.55 rear. Gvwr of trailer is 7k. I haven't weighed yet but I'm probably around 6400lb or less. We don't pack heavy. Payload of truck is almost 1600lb and I'm using a Husky Centerline WDH. The truck pulls it fine and stops great. It does downshift up hills and drink gas like any gas engine does while towing. I also keep truck tires at 40psi.

Our longest trip has been 30 miles. We're planning a couple longer trips for the summer but we have to keep it within travel limits of a 9, 7 and 4 year old!

I also have the Rebel. It hauls Whitehawk 29BH great! 8500lbs. Rams 8 speed transmission paired with 3.92s is great for towing. Love the air suspension on the Rebel as well.

The Rebel has low payload capacity and I am over it (about 200lbs). I use a blue ox wd and it tows great. I just got back from a 500 mile trip. My next trip is to Branson MO. That will 1400 miles round trip.

I don't think I would tow much more than what I have due to the payload issues. My below numbers should be conservative.
max payload = 1400
Cargo/pax = 500
hitch weight=1000
hitch = 100
total = 1600

I have a White Hawk 24MBH which we tow with a 2008 Tundra 4x4. Tundra has a 5.7 and it seems to do fine. (I usually don’t tow with any of the water tanks filled)

I used to have a 26BH, I do believe the GROSS WEIGHT ALLOWED is 7000 pounds.
If you are close to 8000, you are overweight?

Our 287BHSW comes in around 7,500 fully loaded but our 1500 can tow 9,200 lb. As with most of these scenarios we are close, but not over, on tongue weight.

The truck tows like a champ. I'm comfortable driving and stopping. The only time I slow down for extra caution is if it's wet and that's because I don't trust the tires.

The 5.3L has just about the same HP and torque as the 6.0 Vortec in the 2500. I wish the 6.2L was a more popular option.

I always pulled my toy haulers with my ‘05 f350 diesel and makes it nice for stability and power and room. Now we bought a new redhawk 29XK the truck just sits so the wife needs to rotate driving it to work, one day soon it will need to find a new home.

I see folks here pulling bigger TT's with suvs and it amazes me.

I have an equalizer WDH and Timbren bumps

Is the White hawk just that much heavier? Says 5200 #'s.

But I tend to drive conservative.
Does your truck have the tow/haul mode? It changes the shift points on your tranny..

1500 towing

Sorry for my upcoming long response, but just towing & towing safe/comfortable are two totally different things!!

I have pulled a 6000 lbs TT all over the country with a Chevy 5.3L with 3:42 gears, in the flats, the city, high mountain passes! Sure I don't run up the hills at 65MPH or dash the flats at 75, but it does the job.

Each of us defines struggle in different ways; for some I feel if they can't pull up the hill at freeway speeds they feel like the truck is struggling! Others; oh my god I can feel the trailer back there! Good, maybe it will help you to remember that it should feel different.

Second, just because Chevy, Ford or Chrysler says that your truck is rated to pull 10,000 lbs does not mean that you should!! I have towed at max capacity and I can tell you from experience that towing at 75% of capacity makes a huge difference in the struggle and your own comfort towing.

Third, an often forgotten factor in towing is tow vehicle wheel base! Maybe you don't need that second row of seats in your truck? that extra length goes a long way to making towing your TT feel right. I pulled the same TT with a Chevy Trailblazer (high end of the tow rating) and a Chevy Avalanche ( approx. 75% of tow rating) - power & wheel base changed my experience. I will never tow at the top of the range again.

I tow my 23mrb with a 2013 F150 3.5 Ecoboost with tow package and 3.55 rearend. Trailer loaded is around 6150 lbs. The truck has no problems as rated tow capacity is 10,400 lbs. Last year traveled 3200 miles through the Rockies and to northwest and got 10.5 mpg.
You didnt list year of your truck, but in the 2018 Guide to Towing, your Ram with same engine and gears is rated the same at 10,400. In my opinion, your truck should pull the 23mrb without issue. I will say that i keep all my tires on truck and trailer at max capacity. In hot weather you may gain 2 psi in the tire, but that is not an issue. Consult you tire manufacture spec. My advice is to be sure the engine is delivering as advertised power.
Also, i am a conservative hauler. I usually run at 65 mph.

We pull a WhiteHawk 33 RSKS weighing a little over 9100# with a Toyota Tundra 5.7 with no problems. The tranny is a 6 speed auto and it shifts fairly frequently in “tow” mode. I also am conservative driver and there are no problems.
