How do I open the Entry Light Fixture ??

re : 2007 31-BHDS Travel Trailer

Anyone know how to open this entry light fixture - the one up and to the left of my entry door ?

It seems to be filling with water, and also I'd like to replace the bulb with an LED like all the rest of the interior bulbs.
But I don't see any screws.

Is that little hole at the bottom middle a drainage hole ? or is that for prying the thing off. Anyone know ?

And is that caulk over the top typical ? or did the previous owner try to fix a problem.

Thanks a lot if anyone has an idea.

The caulk on the top is probably from the factory installation. The hole that's in the center of the housing is a drain, but not for prying the lamp off. The lenses on outside lights, are not tight fitting. The clear lens will pop off, and then you'll see screws that hold the white housing to the side of the camper. I'd be concerned about using that lamp assembly, since it really lets water inside. That may ruin a new LED in short order. Once you get the lens off, you may find that the bulb socket may be rusted already. New light assemblies aren't that expensive to begin with.

Ah, great information - thanks a million.

So, just pop off the clear lens ? I thought I tried that but I'll give it a whirl again.

And thanks for the advice - you're probably right, it might be best to buy a replacement once I get access.

Your original incandescent lamp is a Command Electronics 007-50, which costs $8.95. They make an identical light with a LED which is a 007-50E shown here on their website.

I got the thing opened and the bulb replaced with an LED.
The little drain hole was plugged up, so clearing that, I think I can keep using the fixture.

I had an LED T10-wedge-base bulb left over from interior changeovers and it works great - and a fair amount brighter.
That's the GRV T10 LED Bulb 921 on Amazon, ASIN=B07CM45ZJD.
More white-ish and not nearly so yellow as in the photo.

Now I just have to figure out how to add a miniature 12vdc motion detector.
I see some gizmos on Amazon and Ebay.

I know you're joking around, but hey, I appreciate it any time someone takes a little (or a lot) of time to share knowledge and help someone out, and anything I can do to have them feel good about it, my pleasure. What else would be in it for them ?

Keep it goin !

Yeah, we kid back and forth about my avatar. He doesn't have a tail, so he has to smile to let us know he happy. At least that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

I'm glad you were able to get your porch light the way you want it. Helping folks here is what we all do...even Murff! Lol.
