How hard to add a fan to kitchen area vent?
Looking at the stuff I'd like to do to our Jayflight 28BHBE. We got the Elite with the extra vent in the kitchen area. From what I see it is just a vent no fan. The one in the bathroom has a fan. If there is no fan am I correct that there will be no electric there? How hard is it to add in a fan. Seeing nice ones that look good with the vent covers and all that seem like a good thing to add to that vent. Thanks

Well... "If there is no fan am I correct that there will be no electric there?"
Yes and No.
There is no electric there specifically for a fan unit. However, if there is a light close to where you are looking at putting the fan, you may be able to tap off it. I have attached the typical 12 volt diagram for your reference.
Also... Since this is NOT a factory option, doing this modification MAY void your Jayco Warranty. (has to be put out there)

Just a note.. if you put a fan in the ceiling, that may affect the effectiveness of your range fan.

I looked on-line and saw a couple of pictures, although not the greatest. I think that it depends. There's a chance you can fish a wire to the fridge area which would give you a lot of options for making connections. The problem tapping into a light, they're likely on a switch and for the fan to work you would need to have the lights on.
It's likely doable, but will take some work getting the wiring run (assuming that it's not already run).

That would be a nice diagram to have. Are they available somewhere on the Jayco site?

Seeing as it's on order, have you tried to add it to the build list? Dealer might be able to have Jayco do it while it's on the line.

My understanding from the dealer is if your alteration is directly related to your warranty claim then that item would not be covered. The rest of the warranty would still be in effect for your two years.

had a similar situation in JF 24rks. Had a ceiling light in fairly close proximity to the vent. Ventline? vent. Purchased single speed Heng's vortex fan conversion from amazon. Tap into + and - wires with scotchloc connector and fish/feed over to vent area. You should be in,out and done in a half an hour. And yes it's on a switched line and the lights also have each, individually switched. Isn't a bigdeal for me, I dont use it all the time. It's an easy pull for the power source.

If it has a vent already there it is easy to check for wires! Just take the four screws that hold the inside flange on out lower the flange and with a good flashlight look along the edges you should be able to see if anything is there.I installed one in the kitchen area when we had our Designer fifth wheel . I purchased a fan from camping world that had a remote that controlled direction , speed and open and close and also had a rain sensor. The hardest part of the install was cleaning up the caulk on the roof for the new one.

A power vent is a great addition and most are super quiet. I personally like the fresh air pulling thru the rig than having the air on. If you do check and find wires be sure and check to see what is positive and negative the color coding as I remember is different colors than the standard auto black and red . Maybe someone on here can post info

The option sheet said that was in the living area not in the kitchen that is why I commented. Did you get it at Colerain? Who was the salesperson?

On my Eagle I replaced all the gravity vents with power vents.. and just ran a power cord from the nearby light fixtures.. I used a large spike nail to make a hole in the foam roof insulation for the power wires.. MAKE SURE YOU USE A LARGE ENOUGH WIRE for the power draw..
