My most recent trailer was picked up on Saturday, pulled 3 hours Sunday for its first trip.

I've never camped in the driveway...

We did the driveway camping trip and im glad we did because in the middle of the night the CO alarm went off. Ran out side and the regulator was blowing out all of the propane. Glad we weren't a few hours away from home. The neighborhood reaked of propane for a good half hour.

Being newbies this year we camped a few nights in our new TT before we hit the road. Tried everything out and familiarized ourselves with the appliances etc. Great way to work out any bugs before you get too far from home.

Not in the driveway. Did go to a campground only about 30 minutes away. Worked out a bunch of problems that way, major problems at that. Did not get all the problems worked out for at least two trips.

Send a message via Skype™ to ALJO
Check things over; Fill the Freshwater; Load the unit and go..........never ever camped at home in the driveway.
Closest campsite was 240 km/150 miles
Fine Adjustment of the DWH-SC I do on the road.

Have a weight flow chart for TV and TT so I know my weight of everything.
Don't like to be send by a cop to a weigh scale way off route.
When I meet a scale I will go over it to check all the weights.
TW I do at home, but will never varies much.

We did the same. I don't think our rig will fully fit in the driveway.

My TT has never been parked in the driveway... because it's too steep!

Camp driveway should always be your first stop.. that way you can find what you don't have in the RV while your still at home and can make sure everything works right (and you know how to use it) before you hit the campground.

Camped in my previous trailer because it was small enough to back into the back yard. With our big trailer we went to a local campsite on our first weekend.

We recently spent a week in the back yard camping when we had a house full of guests.
I was Very enjoyable to leave the crowd and escape in our peaceful fifth wheel.

We did Camp Driveway the first weekend we had it. It stormed like crazy, and we discovered that we could not live with the factory included mattress, so we went the very next day and got a topper.

I always thought it was important to do a shakedown either in the driveway or close to home, that way if things go sideways, you can always pack it in with little lost. If you're 300 miles from home, you're more likely to try to stick it out and ruin an entire weekend.

It's funny, this thread is quite timely! We just had our first son, so we're thinking of doing another Camp Driveway this weekend for some baby shakedown!

Love your question. After a year of planning, we picked up our new x20e on Saturday. We had never towed anything more than a horse trailer so we were working our way up to being newbies.

The drive home was 80 miles through a combination of city traffic; freeways; hills; and about a 40 mph wind. Did I mention that it was also dark by the time the dealer finished with us?

Truly, aside from the TV gearing down on some hills, we could barely tell there was a TT back there.

Driveway camping is not allowed by our HOA, so our little Happy Camper spent its first night in the WalMart parking lot! We could not be more pleased and we were even able to disassemble that Equalizer WDH today when we stored the TT until next weekend.

First big trip? All the way to a nice RV resort that is about 2 miles away. We and two grandkids plan to do it up big for the Thanksgiving weekend.

We have a set up in the back yard to plug in our 5th wheeler with water and electric. Around the corner in the back acre of pines I set up a nice 30 amp full hookup campsite with a fire pit even. My hunting buddy comes up with his motor home and says it is nicer than any state park campsite he has been in! Can walk to the deer stand.
