While in campsites I don't shut off city water, have a pressure reguiater attached before TT. Also leave pump on when no city water available. Exceptions are leaving TT overnight which haven't done since having a seasonal site few years ago, then always shut off the water before leaving...

I suspect this is one of those topics where you need to be or know somebody that had a bad experience, or you are just a generally very cautious person. 30 years of camping and I have never turned off the water or owned a surge protector and never had any issues. Now that I have said this lets see how this summer turns out

not only do I shut the water off on my trailer, but I shut it off at home! I saw Home Alone (where the two burglars clogged the sinks and turned on the water) when I was young and it traumatized me.

I believe it's a good idea to do so, but I usually forget about doing so. The same goes with the water pump, which I usually do remember to have off. In fact, I usually have the pump off, unless I need it at the moment.

Yes, I do and here's why; I recently hooked up water to my rig getting it ready for an upcomming trip. I didn't immediately look in the toilet but when I did, the water was at the top and ready to spill over the rim. This happened due to a faulty toilet valve. Had I left for some reason, water would have been everywhere. Seems like a good reason to shut it off to me.

Before I turn on the water supply I Check all faucets inside the RV especially the kitchen sink. I have sink covers and the kitchen fawcet opened slightly on the trip and water ran off the counter. Not a lot but made me aware of a potential problem.

Well huh, never gave one thought to shutting the water off before reading this thread. But I intend to now. Seems like such a painless thing to do when leaving the site for any extended period of time.

We always shut the water off at the hose spigot whenever we leave the campground, but we do leave it turned on at night when we're sleeping so the toilet will flush.

This question is asked frequently. I turn it off if I'm going to be away for more than an hour or so. But I often ask myself, how many minutes with water pouring into my camper is acceptable?
