How old is your fiberglass trailer?

Here's my question...if you own a Jay Flight with a fiberglass exterior, can I ask how old it is and have you had any problems with it? Just wondering if the fiberglass exterior will hold up. I have read a few things about problems with older Jay Feathers...not sure how old. Please let me know...trying to decide if it would be worth it to change my trailer choice ( I have a deposit on an aluminum sided trailer and wondering if I should change it to fiberglass.)

Jayflight just started offering the glass side option a couple years ago so there will not be any older ones out there. There are however many older Eagle glass sided trailers.

Thanks so much for the info...does that mean the present "glass side" is the same as the older Eagles? Do you mean I should be asking the question to the Eagle owners?

Don't let 50 or maybe 100 "complainers" on the internet spook you about gong with a "glass" sided trailer. Sure, those folks had legitimate issues. But across all four manufacturers, over the past 10 years, there are hundreds of thousands of "glass" units still on the road, happily camping.

Just take care of it, and with a jay flight, you'll have two years to suss out any warranty issues.

I've owned two "glass" trailers, one by forest river and my jayco. The FR unit was camping next to me two weekends ago, no roof or wall issues at all, and it's an 2004 model year unit.

It's been said on this forum before... These trailers are not a lifetime "investment." They depreciate really fast and they will all have issues over their 10-15 year useable lifespan.

Just get the trailer that puts a smile on your face and get out and camp. Life is too short to let the 2% of trailer owners who complain ruin it for ya.

FRP Panels by Crane Composites
This will explain the difference in plastic panels. They are NOT typical fiberglass, they are plastic REINFORCED with fiberglass on the backside. As noted at the above site, the quality of FRP varies with, price being the factor I would assume. Class A get the best, and down the product line with the other thinner panels.

Vacuum pressed is just a sales gimmick. You can't pinch roll a curved panel (easily) so they basically use atmospheric pressure to apply the bond...

Agree with this statement. With any trailer, maintenance is the key. Our fiberglass sided '12 Eagle 320 is still going strong.

The 2003 kiwi 23b that I just traded in looked almost as good as new. we had no issues at all with the fiberglass.

I have an 08 165 sport. Just a few months ago I noticed one small spot has started to delaminate. Rv repair guy looked at it and said it wasn't a structural issue and should not get worse. I left it alone

We have a 2007 Jayfeather 25Z and there are no delaminations or other issues with it. We had a 20 year old Winnebago with composite panels and there were a few small delam bubbles but nothing work worrying about.

I have had 2 glass sided rigs.

Kept the first for 6 yrs and the second is 4 years old. No delam. problems on either and a hole in the front cap on the first was easily repaired by a boat repair yard. Could not see where the hole was.
