How to adjust water heater temperature?

Hello Everyone!
We just purchased a new 2018 Jay Flight SLX 267BHSW.
We took it out on it's first trip last week for a few nights and had a great time.

The only thing I can't figure out: How do I adjust the temperature on the hot water heater? It seems like it's set to maximum heat right now... the water is extremely hot and will probably burn someone. I'm hoping to turn it down a little bit and make it a little more usable.. but I looked inside the water heater panel and I can't find any way to turn it down. Is there a way to adjust the temperature?

Water heater's that are put into campers are just on and off no adjustment. We all adjust by mixing cold and hot faucet. After having had campers for many years you learn that's the way it's done.

If you have 3 valves at your water heater, you can try cracking the bypass valve open a little. That will pre-mix some cold water in with the hot and reduce the temp before it gets to the faucet.

The downside to this method is your DW may complain the hot water isn't hot enough to wash dishes.

The WH in the 5th is gas/electric and is non adjustable. You can install a cooler thermostat or adjustable thermostat as “herewe” suggested, control the temp with the bypass valves or just live with it.
The WH in our 1st TT was gas only and I had to manually light the pilot but it did have an adjustable thermostat but that seems to have been an exception to the “prevailing wisdom”.

As you may have noticed, these water heaters are none adjustable. But you can buy an aftermarket thermostat. From what I gather, the reason for the extremely hot water, is to allow you to mix cool water, so your small HW tank will last longer.

Many people crack open the bypass valve to cool the HW flow. It will take a bit of practice to find the right spot.

You have to buy a cheaper SLX type trailer to get the adjustable thermostat feature! Our 2018 195RB has a manual light water heater with a knob to adjust the temp. Sometimes less really is more.

I asked the same question to our service department. They're response was they are non-adjustable and hotter than home hot water tanks. This is to compensate for the smaller hot water tank in the RV trying to make it last longer when mixed with cold water. They also told me if I wanted a little extra when showering (wife likes a nice long hot shower when we're hooked to septic) to run the electric heater with the gas heater, then turn the gas one off when done.

If you use the bypass it will allow hot water back to the tank of potable water if you do that don't drink the water from the fresh water tank.

This is the answer from google!
Is it safe to drink water from a hot water heater?
However, assuming a well-functioning water heater that is not set to an inappropriate low temperature, the major safety issue with using hot tap water for cooking or drinking is not bacteria, but other dissolved substances. ... From the CDC: "In all situations, drink or cook only with water that comes out of the tap cold.

How does the water make it's way to the fresh tank ? Does your fresh tank fill when you connect to city water ? I guess it is possible if you had a bad check valve on the pump .
