how to prevent wet dirty awning

It's so frustrating to clean the underside of the awning, then roll it up and next time out it's all wet and black again. Does anyone know of a cover that keeps it dry in between trips? I saw a cover in Trailer Life mag but it only claims to protect it from sun and wind- doesn't say that it keeps the rain out.

I've had a set of the Pro-Tech (what Tellard is pointing to) covers for a couple of years and they do a good job of keeping the awning clean. It won't keep 100% of the water out but does prevent most of it from getting under the rolled up part. For me the worst part is having to take them off before leaving the house and then putting them back on when I get back. I keep doing it because the results are pretty good.
A couple of personal tips on using them:
1. slide the covers as far as they will go fore and aft on the roller tube (until the cover hits the awning support arms)
2. make sure the sections overlap as the instructions recommend.
3. after putting a section in place, roll it upwards as far as it will go. This will cover more of the upper surface of the awning.

They also offer a clip that will let you travel with the covers in place. I don't think they would come off even if the clip was not used but I'm not gonna find out - I remove them before leaving the house.
