How to put a spring in your screen door

I have a 297 BHS and would like to make my screen door shut with a spring.

Is there a kit, or anything special I need to do?

One of these do the trick. The directions are a little light on the description. Don't over twist them either.

OK just bought it, any tips on installing it?

Just make sure you study them when you open it first and do not drill without making sure you have it close. I used a pre existing hole from the screen door when I did mine that way I had one less. There are 2 ways to mount them and the hurricane strap way really slams it closed if you go that route.

I put them in the hinge side of the door. They will not close the door. If I swing it open all the way it will attempt to slam shut. If I just open it a little it sits open about 3-4 inches. I twisted them about 1 1/2 times Should I twist more? because that little bit was hard enough

I am going to try to twist one more and see what happens

Did you mount them at only the packaged length or did you stretch them out a little? I found them to work a little better with the length being elongated vs the twisting. They will close both my hard and screen door if they are connected. The screen slams shut when beyond 90 degrees from the trailer.

I followed the directions to a t. Ended up twisting the top spring 2 1/2 turns and the bottom one 1 1/2 turns Works better, but still not perfect. And I did stretch to 9". The hole I drilled was about 1/2" away from screen door.
