Actually, I agree with this!

I don't really worry about fuel economy much any more. I'm out there to have fun, and fuel is part of the cost. I'm thankful that cost has returned to what I consider "reasonable" recently. As long as it's consistent (a significant change in fuel economy can indicate a problem), I'm really okay with it.

Would I like to have better fuel economy? Well, sure! Who wouldn't?! But I'm not going to lose sleep over it. My daily commute is 7 miles, so I don't really worry about it from a daily driver perspective. Our highway travel is pretty limited. We visit family about 3 hours away about once a month (we use DW's Acadia for those trips which does pretty decent on the highway and is very comfortable to drive for long trips), and we tow the trailer about once a month about the same distance.

Average Hwy was 12MPG with 2014 F150, 5.0/3:31 rear gears pulling almost empty (5,500lbs) for 1,200 miles a Jayco 25BH T.T. . Avg Hwy without towing close to 24MPG pure hwy. Drops to 16-17 in stop & go traffic.

I get between 19-20L/100kms towing my set up fully loaded. That measurement would span roughly 800kms of winding highway and some pretty good grades both up and down.

My tow vehicle is a 2015 Ram 3500 with the Cummins 6.7 and I tow a 2013 26BH.

9.5 with the ford pulling the jayco! The best part is the 36 gallon tank. I drove from Gatlinburg to home on one tank of gas about 5 hours. That's important for me don't have worry about range anxiety.

Got 9 today on a 300 mile trip, demonstrating that an extra 10 mph is worth about 2 mpg. Squeaked into wenatchee with the computer saying 9 mi to E. Ha!

Yesterday we went 475 miles and had to fill up 3 times (damn 20 gallon tank) went from an elevation on 560m to 1100m and averaged 9.6mpg, not bad at all. The first leg we averaged 8.0 and then the Jeep seemed to figure something out at it went way up. But i pulled into the first gas station with 1 gallon of fuel left!

Also forgot found out that the gauge and computer is set to give about a 50 mi (not towing) reserve. Found that out in West Texas almost the hard way.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 and SLX195RB

We picked our new SLX195rb at Rick.s RV in Joliet and went to Indiana near the Jayco plant to visit the Amish quilt stores and get a test run.

I filled up before heading home and averaged 14 over relatively flat terrain with mixed but not high winds. Part 2 lane but mostly interstate. Normal mileage on that type of travel is 18 with no trailer.

On the way to Gettysburg, got 10.2, and a little better on the return trip at 10.7. May have been the different routes. (Someone didn't follow the GPS all the way, on the way there.....not sayin' who!)
