9.1 MPG towing a 9500# camper between 60-67 mph (as traffic allows) on my last 400 mile trip to NH and back. I get 13.5 not towing but that's 80% around town driving, not much highway.

Note that this all by using the trip computer, have never computed it manually (I am amazingly consistent at forgetting to write down how many gallons I take on refill)

Yep, Get from 9 to 10 mpg. Without the RV we get 18 to 20, so towing cuts it about in half.

2015 Silverado 1500 5.3L gets about 19 MPG regularly, and 9 MPG towing a 7500 lb 27BHS. When I draft behind a semi, I get about 12-13 MPG.

6mpg towing my 26BH. Okay, actually just under 6 mpg. To be fair, my tow vehicle (for now) is a 1985 K20, weak 350 with a Turbo 400 so I only get maybe 10mpg on a good day anyway.

Didn't bother to read the previous 60_+ posts because I will bet the farm that the answers are from 8 to 12 mpg depending on what you are towing with and what you are towing. Much more than that for anything other than a popup is probably a stretch of the facts. Mountains, speed, wind, and obviously tow weight vehicle ratio are probably the determining factors.

Hello everyone--I'm new to this camping thing myself too. I took our (new to us) 2006 Jayflight 31BHS about 130 miles north of Cheyenne into the wind and slightly downhill and got 13MPG's! I was very surprised at that--she wasn't fully loaded down, but I'll bet she was pretty close to 9K lbs. I heard somewhere that if you have a TT and use the "weight distribution hitch" and if you point the nose of your trailer slightly down, it'll help with mileage just a bit as well as keep that long trailer from swaying just a bit. I noticed some sway on the way up there and played with the level of the hitch ball just a bit and didn't get any on the way back.
Happy Camping!

Agree. If I had to pick a number it would be 10, but you have covered it better.

I'm thinking the height of the "sail" you're pulling is a major factor.

I get 10.5 typically on my F150 ecoboost towing a X213. One time I got 12 but that was with a pretty significant tailwind. Truck gets ~17 in mixed city/highway normally, will get into the 20s on a freeway cruise without a trailer. But there's just nothing you can do about that big sail behind you. I don't think weight really matters too much unless you're on a hill, I think ultimately it's wind resistance that does it.

Been a couple weeks since I picked up my 2016 26BH and towed her home and the numbers vary more than I thought.

From Smithville, ON to Campbellford, ON we averaged 24.7 L/100km (11.4 mpg).

From Campbellford to Morrisburg, ON we avveraged 30.3 L/100km (9.3 mpg).

Not sure if there were more hills on the second leg of our journey or the fact that we filled up the 84 gallon water tank at the campsite near Cambellford (Ferris Provincial Park) that caused the mileage drop but it sure felt harder to maintain 100km/hour on the 401 for the second leg. Don't think I'll be driving with full tanks again.

How's your towing gas mileage?

Unhitched, my Chevy Tahoe averages 20 mpg highway. Pulling my 23RLSW drops that to 9 mpg at 70 mph. Driving at 60 mph increased my mileage to 11 mpg. Looks like I will be driving a bit slower from now on.

Ditto ..same TV with lighter 5er. My 321 weighed in at 11700 loaded. 11.5 mpg.
Last trailer was only 30' and grossed around 10k and I typically saw 11-12 mpg. That Duramax/Allison combo is great!

I have hauled a 27DSRL all over with a 2012 F150 E-boost and probably averaged 8, sometimes better, sometimes worse. Worst tank I remember was just under 7 mpg, best ever was just over 10 mpg. I usually always tow at 63-65 on the interstate, never more than 65 mph.

With our updated towing rig, 2016 Ram 3500 6.7/Aisin, mpg is better although I don't have enough time on it to know what I'll average. I've only put 600ish miles on it hitched up vs 12k with the F150/27DSRL.

6.7 Cummins with 3.42 gears. Hand calculated numbers are 11.8 towing 12K fiver and 17.6 around town. Computer (lie-o-meter) numbers average 12.3 (.5 high) and 18.6 (1 high) respectively.
