Stop all the hard work once and for all. As a previous post said put a in a SeeLevel system. I’ve had 2-5th wheels with them and NEVER a problem. Can be a little difficult to install as you need to apply sensors to the side of every tank. Wiring is pretty simple. But, it’s a one and done situation.

A good probiotic will clean the sensors

When reading these posts about tank cleaning, I hardly ever hear anybody mention probiotics. I stopped using chemicals long ago, in favor of Tank Tech, which is a probiotic that is rich with poo-eating bacteria. When used correctly, it is the best stuff ever. There may be other good brands. But Tank Tech is great.

Once you get a quorum of good bacteria living in the tank, those little critters will eat everything they can get cellular mouths around, including TP and all the stuff that clings to your sensors. If you use a probiotic, you never have to completely drain your tank. In fact, that's bad. The last few gallans in the tank are full of the good bacteria. Never ever flush them out. Just add some fresh water to charge the tank and let them do their thing.

One more thing, if you have ever used formaldehyde in your tank (old school), bacteria will never be able to survive in the tank.

Good luck.

I have used RidX in my black tank and I have used the GEO method, Either way my black tank comes out sparkling clean after using the built in tank flush. It is the gauges that simply don't work. It is actually comical to watch them work. With the RV not in use and tanks completely empty one day the reading might be 1/2 or 1/3 full and the next day empty and then the next day 1/3 full again and so on. Right now it is just a game to pass the time. For a few dollars more any RV manufacturer could fix this problem but they choose not to. If I ever get serious and want accurate gauges I will install SeeLevel because I know they work.

My tank gauges have only once showed just one light. I think it was the black tank at the dealer when I picked it up. I can turn the black tank wash (factory installed) and run for ten minutes. This is long after it has run clear for five minutes. I can also let the grey tanks drain for twenty minutes. Gray or black, the best I can do is half full, two lights. I just try to drain them before it hits the floor. So far, so good.

I have the opposite problem on my black tank sensors. It reads empty even when full. The grey tank reads correctly.

For $220 and nothing to install, I think I'll pass and just get a Swivel Stick at one tenth the price even though I haven't had any sensor issues.......yet.

I had similar problems with my 2017 Eagle HT gauges. They never read correctly...I mean WAY off.

Then I started to use the Calgon, Borax, Dawn mixture suggested by another person here. Once that cleared them (driving with the tanks about 1/2 full with that cleaning mix) they have been accurate ever since.

I add that mix about a day or so after we do the dump and flush-out. I pre-measure the Borax into snack-sized zip-lock baggies before the trips. Really easy procedure.

If that hadn't worked, I would have bought a wand, but I didn't need it.

My black tank gauge has read empty from day one. What turns the lights on? A path to ground? Jay

Hmm... Never thought to use Dawn. That's a good idea.

So-- the big question, does the wand work any better than the built in flush? I am sure many have used both.

My $.02 is that I had a '14 BHBE with no black water flush, but I had a wand and never had a problem with my sensors registering properly. Now I have a NP with a black water flush and they haven't worked since our 1st trip out! That's my "scientific experiment"...your outcome may be different...

I have used both and my black tank flush does as good at cleaning things off the sensors. I'm a firm believer in the GEO method and the Calgon water softener is the key, not fabric softener. Everything gets cleaner with soft water.

Ditto using the ice method, we put in a couple of large bags of ice and some water after leaving the dump station or sewer hookup. Have yet to have a problem.

I used the straight wand on my black tank this week and washed out a piece of fabric, which got all tangled up in the macerater. I hope there aren't any more in there. I'm one of those where the sensors show the black tank empty all the time but work fine on the grey tank.
