I got a date!
Well, I just heard from my Jayco dealer. It looks like my new 38FDDS has an estimated 'off the line' date of 01/08/2016, at which time it goes to the 'pen' and awaits a driver to be assigned to haul it to my dealer here in Massachusetts!
It's a ways away, but I'm excited to get a date!
Does anyone know the approximate time it takes to get from the factory to the dealership once it rolls off the line?
Thanks.. John

[voice of cynicism]
That commitment isn't worth the electrons it took to make the phone call.
Until ALL the papers are signed and both sets of keys are in your possession, it's imaginary. And you still have to wait for the title, registration and loan documents.
Go ahead and enjoy your emotional roller-coaster ride of broken commitments.
With luck, you will have your RV before it is safe to de-winterize.

LMAO! Really? It's that bad huh? As long as it's here by spring, I'll be happy. It's just going to sit anyways

It may never to 'bad', but the only direction the delivery date can go is 'later'. Every foul-up, bleep and blunder at the factory, during shipment or at the dealer will cause the delivery date to slip. There have been 'horror stories' posted here. Consider them Worst Case Scenarios.
When we bought our first house, I chose to ride the excitements and disappointments for all they were worth. Having the 3rd offer accepted was just the beginning. Getting the contract and then the mortgage! Then the inevitable crap just before (and even at) the closing...
Now, if it ain't on the lot, I don't buy it. But that's me.

It goes to shipping as soon as your dealer pays for it. From there it depends on how soon the delivery company can find a driver.

Can't we do it like Johnny Cash's Cadillac and "Pick it up at the factory. It's cheaper that way".

Yes it could!
Though....all the way home in a reasonable length of time? Your call.

I think everybody miss the Johnny Cash song reference:, "One Piece At A Time." Where he tells the story of stealing all the pieces to build a Cadillac while working at the factory from 1949 to 1976. Then finally assembling it and trying to get the title...

Hope they get it to you before the snow flies. Would not want my new trailer traveling in all the road salt. When we ordered ours I made sure of that. But in the meantime enjoy the wait. It is very exciting time, then when they call you to pick it up its like a fire work display goes off.

We ordered our 26BH in mid-June 2015. The dealer advised us on Jul 23rd that it would be coming off the line on Aug 26th. It showed up at the dealership on Aug 24th. We picked it up on Sep 8th due to previous commitments that I had, so I couldn't pick it up sooner...went straight out for 6 nights with no issues.

I know, I was thinking that too, but anytime between November and April you run a good chance of road salt being used here in the Northeast. There's not much I can really do about it. I'm just hoping the roads won't be too sloppy and at least be somewhat dry during it's 878 mile journey from Indiana > Massachusetts. I'll ask them to give it an underbelly/frame rinse once it arrives.
From there it will sit until the ground thaws and it can be delivered to my seasonal spot down Cape Cod.
In retrospect, the best time to order up here would probably have been late summer for fall delivery. But my extensive research, including waiting to actually see/touch the model I ordered, took me to a fall order. Had one been available locally to look at, I would have gotten the order in earlier. I'm guessing the 38FDDS is not as popular as most models as it's designed as more of a park model. Not intended to be hauled around on the weekends.

We're a little south east of you an MA, and have now gone through the order process with two rigs. Both times we were told to expect about two weeks after it came off the line. With the first one took about a month, but it was so badly damaged that the dealer refused delivery. It ultimately took another six weeks for a new TT to be built and arrive.
Our 5er arrived at the dealer two weeks to the day it rolled off the line. It was then took another week for them to prep and get the hitch, so it ended up being three weeks from the date it came off the line until we took delivery.
Are you working with Forrest RV in Tyngsboro? If so, IMO they are great to work with.

Yes. I ordered through Forrest Marine RV. I hear many good things about them. Julie and Bruce were a pleasure to work with during the order process!

I've seen a couple of units that were towed in the snow from the factory to the lot. Corrosion galore. When we buy a new unit, It will have a Summer build date to avoid such issues.

The good news is that once in place, it won't see any road use/abuse at all through its foreseeable lifetime. I'm actually more concerned with ocean air than its initial transport from the factory. If properly maintained, that's not too big of a worry either.
