Idiot connected battery backwards

Like I said some idiot (ok it was me!) Connected the battery leads reversed when I put the battery back in this spring. I replaced the 30 amp fuse for the tongue jack and the 10amp fuse attached to the radio but the battery now is not charging via the inverter. I am assuming I missed another 12v blade fuse somewhere. The breaker for the inverter is fine and not tripped....what other fuse am I missing? There has to be a 3rd but I can't find it...

Thanks in advance,

Well it has happened numerous times on the site so don't feel bad ... I think there are some fuses for reverse protection on or around the convertor

there are also numerous threads and maybe one of those can help you locating where these fuses are

Thank goodness the fuses did what they are suppose to do... Be sure to stock up on these fuses so you will have a good PLAN B hehe...

I marked all of my POSITIVE Cables with RED FINGERNAIL polish. I also always grab the NEGATIVE FRAME Cables coming from the frame ground and look for the word 'NEG' or symbol '-' marked on the battery case. The Automotive WORLD makes all of this simple with their different size TERMINALS....

I have seen some folks have taken a photo with their camera and stored it to show how they hook up the cables...

I got caught once when buying a replacement LIKE battery and just starting to hook it up like it used to be and noticed at the last minute the terminals were labeled different. Turns out the manj of the same battery moved the newer battery terminals to other side of the case... Same battery - Same model number... go figure....

Never done it on my RV, but I did hook up the battery backwards on my boat last year.
In my defense - ALL the wires in the battery compartment were black. (there are about 4 separate wires that hook to the battery.
First I noticed was when we realized the cabin was filling with smoke. It melted the ignition switch and fused much of the wiring behind the dash. Also blew out a couple of instruments and instrument lights. Took me about 16 hours of work and a good bit of money to fix all that.

I bought some colored tape (home depot I think) that came in red and wrapped it around all the positive cable ends. Hopefully I won't do that again.

I have to replace a boat motor battery next. I will be sure and note and wrap the wires together and mark negative and positive. Thanks for that tip!
