Installing outdoor shower

Hey guys.

We have a 2019 Jay Flight SLX 174 BH. I picked up an outdoor shower kit for it and just have one question about the camper construction before I cut it in.

Dose anyone know the center to center spacing on the vertical studs in the exterior walls?

Thanks in advance!

I could be wrong but I don’t think they have a standard spacing like home construction. On my trailer I’ve noticed the studs aren’t uniform in their spacing due to windows, doors, cargo doors, etc. The best way to know is to ask Jayco for a schematic.

Or you could look at the interior walls and look for the staples (putty holes) on the wall board.

What Magnolia Tom said: Call Jayco Customer Service with your VIN# and they'll send you a framing diagram.

Well I did like you guys suggested and contacted Jayco by email. They sent me the wall diagrams as requested and from what I could tell, the measurements in the diagrams were pretty spot on.
The diagrams and what I thought was behind the walls was a match but it was still nice to see it on paper too.

Chopped a hole in the side and threw the shower in this morning. Pretty simple project that we will use a good bit I think.

Thanks guys. Was a little bit of a tight spot because the bath tub is right behind it but it turned out well and is in a usable location for the way we normally set up camp.

Do you have any more pictures or comments on how you installed and plumbed this? Did you tap into the shower lines or something closer to the hot water tank?

Also, with the corrugated type side, do you just have a thick bead of caulking to seal the unit against the camper?

Thanks for any other info. I totally want to do this too.

After I cut my hole, I framed around it so it would be really solid. I did use an outdoor UV rated silicone on it. Also ended up changing out the hose to a much longer stainless steel hose and that actually made it much nicer. You could tie into your water lines anywhere that is accessible. I have a thread started here on my trailer and the mods I have done. I have a better write up and pictures there too. Let me see if I can find the page where this shower install starts and you can check it out. Feel free to ask any questions.

Here is a link the thread I started. There is more detail and pictures starting on the 2nd page. And I think a few more throughout the thread.

Funny I found and just finished reading the other thread. Awesome job and thanks for sharing your projects.

After I found the thread I was just telling my wife that you are me in the form of another human being haha.

I love making stuff my own and don't mind throwing time and money at things to customize them.
