Installing TV wall mount

Quick question. Our 28BHS has a diagram on the wall as to where to place the wall mount for the TV. What type of fastner have people used. I'm thinking those lag bolts that came with it are a "tad" too long and since I dont really need a place to hang dish towels on the other side, I'm gonna take a pass on using them. Any suggestions?

thats exactly,..what i did.......ran em thru the wall.... i'll put something over it...very thin walls
i removed them,used bolt cutters to cut off an inch,and re-inst.

I went to the hardware store and purchased some #14 wood screws that were 1 1/2 inches long. They bit real good into the wall and did not go all the way through the thin wall. Seemed to work quite well. Maybe something like this will work for you.

Do you folks leave your tv up while traveling? I put bolts through my wall but I still think that a real good bump could have enough energy to rip the tv off the wall . If you do take it off where do you stow it? I wrap mine in foam and place it in the bed clothes (I mean on the bed onder the covers).

I have no clue how dealer mounted our tv but we just tighten the pivot points down when breaking camp. We've taking the tt about 10,000 miles so far and no indication that the mount is compromised yet

I always take my television off the mount and place it in bed wrapped up in the covers or stick in the tow vehicle. Moving the trailer with the television on the mount has to put a lot of stress on the mount and the wall it is mounted too. Over time I think something would give.

If you attach the wall mount where Jayco says to, there is a piece of 1/2" plywood behind it. 1 1/2" #12 or #14 screws will do fine and your TV isn't going anywhere. Screw in anywhere else and you are only going into some 1/8" luan,

If the plywood backer is only 1/2" and there is enough space behind that, I would put in molly bolts. Drilling a small test hole where a screw needs to go (you need a pilot hole anyway) then probing it with a fine wire will tell you what you have. Just make sure you don't drill any deeper than a little less than the overall wall thickness to avoid putting a hole on the opposite side.
